À propos de ce contenu audio
Arthur C. Clarke winner and Sunday Times bestseller Adrian Tchaikovsky's triumphant return to fantasy with a darkly inventive portrait of a city under occupation and on the verge of revolution.
There has always been a darkness to Ilmar, but never more so than now. The city chafes under the heavy hand of the Palleseen occupation, the choke-hold of its criminal underworld, the boot of its factory owners, the weight of its wretched poor and the burden of its ancient curse.
What will be the spark that lights the conflagration?
Despite the city's refugees, wanderers, murderers, madmen, fanatics and thieves, the catalyst, as always, will be the Anchorwood–that dark grove of trees, that primeval remnant, that portal, when the moon is full, to strange and distant shores.
Ilmar, some say, is the worst place in the world and the gateway to a thousand worse places.

This story is probably not for everyone. The main caracter being the city or rather, the revolution itself. Caracters come and go, but the plot remains. If you like caracter driven stories better, you might find it hard to listen to. But if you like to put your intellect at work, this piece is for you. Colonialism, racism, xenophobia, faith, religion, these are some of the themes those Pals meanies allow us to explore.
And if this is not your cup of tea, consider it anyway, bc Iv listen to many readers now, but... never (ever) have I heard such an excellent interpration. I could listen to this man read a taxe cheat or a grocery list to me without ever getting bored, not for even a split second. If there's an award given to the best audible book reader, please consider this man. This is acting. Not reading. He's the very best. Period.
Excellent story
