    Description

Some of Diana Lindstrom’s fondest memories involve childhood experiments conducted under the watchful supervision of her Great-Aunt Nora, a celebrated physicist long ago shunned by the family for mysterious reasons.

Now in her adult years and a sought-after scientist herself, Diana learns that Nora is dying. She hires private-duty nurse Brooke Sheldon to care for Nora. Over the days and weeks spent in Nora’s company, Diana and Brooke are privy to Nora’s long-held secrets, along with her deep-seated regrets.

Trapped in a failing body, but with a keen mind, Nora Lindstrom watches as the spark of attraction between her great-niece and her caregiver grows into a flame.

Determined to help the two younger women find the kind of deep love they so richly deserve, Nora makes a fateful decision that brings the past and the present directly onto a collision course. After all this time, it’s still about chain reactions.

    Narrator

Strong storyline but it was very hard getting passed this narrator. the the narrator reads she needs lighthearted material not series and sad material. this book could have had a much bigger impact with Abby Craden or Angela Dawe or Lori Prince.

    Interesting story; Awful narration

Chain Reactions is an interesting story, but the narration is awful. It's read way too fast with peculiar inflections, and the narrator frequently mixes up or overlaps the male/female vocal tones so it's difficult to figure out who is supposedly talking.

    The past is prologue

What love about Lynn Ames’ books: I learn something about herstory and the world when I red them. They are cerebral. They are human. They are deep. They are funny. The relationships and dialogue are complex and true to life. This is a phenomenal book. I understand why it is not listed as a sequel to the other book ... but I am so happy to know “the rest of the story” about Nora and Mary.

    Speed it up

This and the book that precedes it might be better off being read vs the audiobook. I had to skip over all of the dramatic back and forth because it was too hard to listen to...even at 1.1x to 2.0x speed. I didn’t want to miss some of it but I think maybe an hour at the beginning and and hour at the end could have been added to the first book and I wouldn’t have had to skip so much of the books.
I hate giving bad reviews but this was a hard one to listen to. I only did so because another reviewer said they were glad to have more of the story from the first book...again could have been condensed into one with better flow.
I felt like I was back in school trying to make a 20 page paper from 3 pages of straight to the point information. Again it’s my opinion and I don’t dislike this author but the audiobook, I would pass on.

    Family!

This is a fantastic story!! It gave me all the feels. I often found myself laughing out loud or teary eyed during the sad moments. The ending is exactly perfect and I cried at the goodbyes at the end. I hope there will be another novel containing the lives from this book!!!!!!

Linda L, review for chain Reactions

I love the story, I thank you Lynn for this audio book.. how you took the sorry from the beginning and step by step along the way was like being there. I fell in love with the characters and needed tissues along the way. It was a great story and I encourage readers to read it. And thank you again for being a awesome writer.

Nice story better to read than listen

A nice well crafted story about relationships. The narrator was terrible, Nora and Julia voices were not on. Nora sounded like a guy, and Julia sounded too hard. I almost couldn’t get though the book because of the narrator.

    Excellent story

This story does an excellent job of blending the lives of the three main characters. The story of love lost and of a new love that is starting to grow. It tells the history of one of the women scientists in WWII who worked at Oakridge that helped win the war yet were not given credit for all they accomplished. This is definitely a must read. This is the first book that I have listened to by Ms. Ames and I look forward to reading more of her works.

    great listen

Loved the book, story line was amazing, sweet and made you truly realize to grab life and take chances to be happy. The narrator could have been better. At times if felt like she was just reading and nit putting in the dramatics.
