It took PI Jack Mahler 11 years to claw out of the hole Sergeant Anderson left him in.
All the unbelievable horrors he has experienced can be traced to Anderson getting him kicked out of the army. Jack thought he had buried the scandal and is finally rebuilding his life, when Anderson comes calling on his "old buddy" again. The FBI is accusing Anderson of smuggling stolen Iraqi artifacts into the US, and he wants to hire Jack to prove his innocence. Jack is almost certain Anderson is guilty but, just like old times, Anderson talks him into going against his better judgment.
Jack links the stolen antiquities to a murdered scholar and stumbles upon a mystery as old as civilization. Now, only Jack stands between humanity and a forgotten god.
