Developing and implementing a strategy is the central task of a leader. A good strategy is a specific and coherent response to - and approach for - overcoming the obstacles to progress. A good strategy works by harnessing and applying power where it will have the greatest effect. Yet, Rumelt shows that there has been a growing and unfortunate tendency to equate Mom-and-apple-pie values, fluffy packages of buzzwords, motivational slogans, and financial goals with “strategy”.

The next Bill Gates will not build an operating system. The next Larry Page or Sergey Brin won’t make a search engine. And the next Mark Zuckerberg won't create a social network. If you are copying these guys, you aren't learning from them. It's easier to copy a model than to make something new: doing what we already know how to do takes the world from 1 to n, adding more of something familiar. But every time we create something new, we go from 0 to 1.

Reference PDF is in your Library
As many have mentioned, this audiobook refers to a lot of diagrams and visuals in order to fully grasp the principles it's sharing. I was frustrated listening to it as well.
Until, I discovered that a reference PDF with all the diagrams are in the Library section of your Audible account.
It's very helpful and provides a much better understanding of the book.

same as Blue ocean shift
for those who read the previous book by the authors, this one brings not much new info.
some new case studies, focus on team dynamics throughout the implementation, but no new concepts and the book is largely a boring repetition of the previous one
for the other readers, the concepts are groundbreaking, simple and powerful and worth diving into

Not a book for listening
Great concepts but there's too much theory and references to written pieces in the book like graphs etc
I would not recommend as a listen to book
If you decide to read it , it will be a hard read make sure you allocate the time to go through it, not an easy to follow book

Better than the Original Blue Ocean Strategy
Blue Ocean Shift is better than the original Blue Ocean Strategy book and in my opinion renders the first one unnecessary since they refresh the reader on what the concept of a blue ocean strategy is anyway.

Pale comparing to "Blue Ocean Strategy"
I stopped after several hours of listening. It was too much for me.
I read "Blue Ocean Strategy" about a decade ago, remember it well, cite it often, and used many of its tools many times. Really a breakthrough book.
This book is somewhat a review of what happened since the original book, and somewhat sort of a guide of how to implement the ideas of the original book in certain cases. More than all it seem to me like someone was thinking: "well, OK, we had this blockbuster book, if we use a similar name with the same authors, it will sell, no matter what's inside".

Great how to build & execute a blue ocean strategy
if you've read or listen to the original book called Blue Ocean strategy you know that there was a ton of information in that book that was hard to digest.
And this book you get the how to build and execute a Blue Ocean strategy.
You're going to need to follow along the PDF why you listen to get the most from this one.

Absolutely dribble !!
More than halfway and simply cannot justify this purchase.
It’s ..really strung out way too far for the simple message.
You could walk a block and get bored or ride a bike 10 blocks and absorb more that way as an analogy.
I’m probably just upset from the drummed up hype that persuaded my purchase too.
Should have just listened to a Jim Rohn tape again , would have been more useful to me.
4 hrs wasted.
