Description
It was once said that you must trust and believe in people or life becomes impossible....
Alli Carson has been through her own personal hell. With her father, the president of the United States, recently dead and her mother in a coma from a terrible accident, she has poured herself into her training to become one of the best FBI agents at the Fearington Institute. Her inspiration and solace comes from the one man with whom she has ever felt a kinship, National Security Adviser, Jack McClure. But when Alli becomes the prime suspect in a murder at Fearington, a wide-ranging investigation is triggered, involving local homicide detectives, the secret service, the FBI itself, and Alli’s own uncle, the billionaire lobbyist Henry Carson. And yet nothing is what it seems.
What follows is a treacherous journey that leads Jack and Alli into a complex web of lies and deceit. Using Jack’s unique gifts to see the through the labyrinth of manipulation, their investigation leads them into the dark heart of the international slave trade, tied to a powerful Albanian crime lord whose ability and influence in global terrorism grows with each day. The two find themselves in the crosshairs of vast global enterprise, one that lurks in the shadows of power and has infiltrated Washington and their lives in ways neither of them could ever have imagined. And hidden deep among it all sits a terrifying criminal mastermind, someone fueled by a hatred that can never be quenched, and a mind that knows neither feeling nor mercy.

Disgusted this Eric Van Lustbader fan!
I Gave-Up on this audiobook after listening to two chapters!
I have never "given-up" listening to an audiobook, in over 100 downloads/ Audio-CD listenings.
I Have been a long time Lustbader fan (Nicholas Linnear/ Jason Bourne-series) & individual novels.
I found myself becoming increasingly incensed at the inane story-line and the preening histrionic narrations of Richard Ferrone. Ferrone's reading style would have been more appropriate were he reading the lines of the fool -Malvolio- from Shakespeare's "Twelve Night". Not for a Thriller novel!
I did not have this acerbic reaction to "Last Snow"-(previous 'Jack McClure' novel).
I can neither recommend the story nor the narrator. I would prefer a 0-☆ rating, however that is not an option.

Good Beginning, Rough Middle Bad End.
Too many characters, too many sub plots the latter part of the book was muddled and the ending was not believable. Looks like a sequal will follow.

An Excellent Complex Thriller
This book is both well-written and narrated. If you enjoy fast-paced fiction thrillers that follow current issues, this book should be well worth your purchase. Jack McClure is both a likable and a believable main character - and the supporting characters (good and bad) complement an interesting complex plot. If I had a minor criticism, I think the narrator might think about a better way to transition the fast paced parallel events that make up the story. These transitions probably would not a problem reading the book - but occasionally caused me to rewind while listening.
Since I thoroughly enjoyed Blood Trust - my first Jack McClure book - I plan to read Van Lustbader's earlier McClure books.

Save your money. Last Lustbader I'll Buy
Oh, brother. This one was even worse than the one before it. I never put it on fast forward, but rather just listened to the 2nd half of it in the background. It was just a dud. Very disappointing. Nothing about it is believable in the least and the narrator was not the right one for this book. He wasn't terrible, but the production was poor. No way to tell that you were switching to a completely different setting the way you could have if you were reading the book. A complete disappointment.

What disappointed you about Blood Trust?
First I am an Eric VL fan. This novel has to much esoteric talking to the dead. Goes off in tangents and story lags. I couldn't finish. Hope he writes more Jason Bourn -- Ludlum style
