Description

In this spellbinding novel, Lestat, rebel outlaw, addresses the tribe of vampires, telling us the mesmerizing story of how he became prince of the vampire world, and of the formation of the Blood Communion, and how his vision for the Children of the Universe to thrive as one, came to be.

Lestat takes us from his ancestral castle in the snow-covered mountains of France to the verdant wilds of lush Louisiana, with its lingering fragrances of magnolias and night jasmine; from the far reaches of the Pacific’s untouched islands to the 18th-century city of St. Petersburg and the court of the Empress Catherine. He speaks of his fierce battle of wits and words with the mysterious Rhoshamandes, proud Child of the Millennia, reviled outcast for his senseless slaughter of the legendary ancient vampire Maharet, avowed enemy of Queen Akasha, who refuses to live in harmony at court and who threatens all Lestat has dreamt of....

This has to stop now.

so short and nothing really happens. love each other ending. I hated Atlantis and his birds aliens on spaceships. I just finished it, and all I feel is anger. Why Anne ? Why did you do this to this fantastic universe you built ?

change the narrator!!

I've been listening to Anne Rice's stories about Prince Lestat for years and his character has a specific sound and dialect. He's from France and lived in New Orleans. The narrator did a terrible job of staying true to the character. I want my money back so I can purchase the hard copy book.

Eric Quinn should never narrate a Lestat novel

Simon Vance has narrated the previous Lestat novels. why the change? The quality of the narration is awful. I love the Chronicles but I stopped listening to this one because it was SO SO bad. They should cut their losses and have Simon Vance re-narrate this in order to maintain The Vampire Chronicles journey appropriately. Please bring Simon Vance BACK

Narration ruined the story

I was really looking forward to this book . The narrator ruined the story for me. I can’t picture Lastat with this voice and accent.

I can’t listen any further

My god, they have chosen the worst narrator for this novel. I am so disappointed I want a refund.

Amateur narration ruins this book.

Eric Shaw Quinn’s amateur performance ruins this audiobook for me. He is the author’s son’s friend. It was a lack of good judgement to use him in what is probably the last Vampire Chronicle. The competent, talented voice actors who performed the narrations in previous books is badly missed. They brought the characters to life, giving them accents and inflections unique to them. Quinn sounds like a volunteer at a public library reading to 4 year old children. What a painful disappointment.

Where is Simon Vance?

I have every single Anne Rice book in hard copy, e-book format, and audio. After months of anticipation, I am sorry to say the narrator left me wanting. He doesn't stay true to character. And he is definitely not the voice of Lestat. I tried to give it a chance ~ even after my initial (cringe) reaction. I couldn't listen to it very long. Why the change? Simon Vance has been great. I am incredibly disappointed. I would gladly purchase this book again if its read by Simon Vance. As it stands, I am returning the audiobook and I will find time to read the hardcopy. I guess I'll listen to something else on my long drive to work. I am sorry to Eric Shaw Quinn as I am sure he would be a fine narrator for a different kind of book.

Is this a joke? Kween of the Damn!

Look I’m gayer than Christmas, and can appreciate a campy performance, but not with my Vampire Chronicles. A couple of years ago my friend gifted me an audible book called Pounded in the Butt by My Own Butt by Chuck Tingle and as soon as I started Blood Communion I thought it was the same narrator! Im ultimately I’m disappointed Simon Vance did not return to continue the Prince Lestat era. I’ve tried to keep an open mind but I’m going to have to go pick this up in stores and just read the book. No more Eric Shaw Quinn!!!!!

you've got to be kidding with this nararator.

Just to be clear I am a avid, long-time fan of both Anne Rice and especially the Vampire Chronicles. I am borderline offended that either the publisher, Anne Rice, or anyone else involved would think that this narrator is even remotely passable as Lestat. Does Lestat have the accent of a 45 year old white guy from upstate New York? No. He is French, centuries old, educated, and even sounds attractive. Simon Vance killed the portrayal of Lestat's accent and general feel and vibe of his voice. Please have Simon redo this and I will gladly rereview. Hell I would even buy a second copy of this book with him narrating. I can't even get into the feel and vibe of the book and live the Anne Rice Lestat Vampire fantasy because of how bad of a fit this guy is for the character he is portraying. I was looking forward to this book even pre-ordered and now I can't even enjoy it because of this issue. So disappointing. I will have to read it when I have time...I don't know.

Please STOP! Horrible. Horrible Narrator.

After waiting months for this audio book to become available, I am beyond disappointed. I knew it wasn't Simon Vance which made me a little apprehensive, but listening to Eric Quinn today... Everything about it was wrong and all I could think was please, Please STOP. What a way to ruin a perfectly excellent novel. I have every single one of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, and although Roger Rees is my favorite in Blood and Gold, Simon Vance stands toe to toe in all of the Lestat books. I'm so disappointed because now I will have to go back and purchase this book hardback or on Kindle. If the audio version was redone with Simon Vance, I would definitely go back and purchase it again.

Good story, performance could have been better

I love all Anne Rices books, and enjoyed her audio books, however I felt that the narrator didn't match Lestat or Lestats personality. His voice just didn't go with the character. The French pronunciations weren't always correct, and didn't portray the voice of a vampire in his twenty year body. I like the story, but just couldn't dip into it the same way I have with other Anne Rice books, because the voice just didn't match.
