Description

When physics grad student Fielding Monroe and skirt-chaser and football player Mick Colman become college housemates, they're both in for a whole new education. Mick looks out for the absent-minded genius, and he helps Fielding clean up his appearance and discover all the silly pleasures his strict upbringing as a child prodigy denied him. They become best friends.

It's all well and good until they run into a cheerleader who calls Mick the "best kisser on campus". Fielding has never been kissed, and he decides Mick and only Mick can teach him how it's done. After all, the physics department's Christmas party is coming up with its dreaded mistletoe. Fielding wants to impress his peers and look cool for once in his life. The thing about Fielding is, once he locks onto an idea, it's almost impossible to get him to change his mind. And he just doesn't understand why his straight best friend would have a problem providing a little demonstration.

Mick knows kissing is a dangerous game. If he gives in, it would take a miracle for the thing not to turn into a disaster. Then again, if the kissing lessons get out of hand, they can always blame it on the mistletoe.

Best Narration MM Book Ever

Where does Blame It on the Mistletoe rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Based on sheer passionate narration #1

Who was your favorite character and why?

Fielding in terms of his character, MIck in terms of his passion.

What does Jason Frazier bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Sweet Lord! The man's voice turned me into pudding! Trust me you want some alone time when you listen to the kiss scenes... wow!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Uh yeah. See above... kissing scenes were out of this world.

Any additional comments?

Jason Frazier just hit this out of the ballpark. He was invested, he got it, he added charm and passion to the story and just made it so REAL. Awesome.

If Jason read school textbooks, grades would go up!

Would you listen to Blame It on the Mistletoe again? Why?

The story was cute and sweet. Although the storyline was good, words alone could not create such an emotional reaction in me. Jason took this book from a single sense experience (hearing) and turned it into a multiple FIVE sense experience (Sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch). Who would not want to experience that multiple times?? So YES I have already listened to this again and will listen to it again and again and again!!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blame It on the Mistletoe?

Any time Jason (I mean Mick) *sighed*. Also anytime Mick thought of Fielding because Jason did this thing with his voice that could melt icebergs....no melt glaciers. Several times I found myself turning up the air conditioning in my car!

Which scene was your favorite?

Definitely the First Kiss. The way Jason turned words on paper into actual butterflies in my stomach was mind blowing!

If you could rename Blame It on the Mistletoe, what would you call it?

Kiss Me, Just Once....Twice....

Any additional comments?

Anyone can read a book out loud but it takes real talent to make a person actually "feel" what the characters are doing/feeling. Jason did this constantly throughout the book and it made listening to the book a "whole body experience". I have listened to many audiobooks and Jason's talent for voicing multiple characters especially of different ages and genders was AMAZING!! It sounded like multiple people were used to narrate this book. Each voice was unique to their character and it did NOT sound like one person trying to do many voices (unfortunately many audiobooks sound like that). This book was such a pleasure to hear that I will buy anything Jason narrates even if it is a math text book!

You will listen to this MANY times!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! It is sweet and sexy! And has many touching moments!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blame It on the Mistletoe?

Definitely the first kiss...sigh...

What does Jason Frazier bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Jason Frazier brings the main characters to life! He makes you feel like you know Fielding Monroe and Mick Colman. His voice inflection lets you know exactly how Mick and Fielding are feeling about each other!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Oh Ioved every moment in this book, but when Mick came after Fielding at his Christmas party, that pretty much did it for me!

Any additional comments?

Since listening to this book, I have purchased every narration Jason Frazier has done for Audible...he is undoubtedly the most talented narrator I've ever listened to!

yes, total "feel good" book. Nerdy boy gets beautiful jock boyfriend, but with substance.

What other book might you compare Blame It on the Mistletoe to and why?

Any Eli Easton book, Superhero.

Have you listened to any of Jason Frazier’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, great voices, great entertainment! More like Tristan James or Finn Sterling.

If you could rename Blame It on the Mistletoe, what would you call it?

I would not rename it, perfect name

Great story, performed wonderfully.

It’s amazing how much I used to struggle with trying to love Christmas. Then again, if you’ve ever worked retail, you probably get it. So it’s nice to return to Christmas and find it actually enjoyable.

Also – Christmas stories.

That said, this isn’t one. Or rather, there’s a very tenuous Christmas component to it, but it’s not a story that really has Christmas centre-stage. And even post-retail me is okay with that.

Eli Easton‘s Blame it on the Mistletoe is a fun novella-length audiobook that I listened to in a single afternoon worth of household chores, and it was a lovely way to pass the time. The narrative set-up is pretty simple: a jock has a roommate who’s a super-smart (and rather cute) nerdy type. They’re very close, and when the nerd learns that jock has the reputation of being the best kisser on campus, he asks for lessons.

Yup. That’s right. Lessons.

The reason why, and how the two end up together (there’s no spoiler there, as anyone who’s ever read any gay romance will know they’re on a collision course), is actually quite adorable. Even better, the (as-yet) straight jock character doesn’t come across as a gay-for-you character at all (a trope I have little patience for), but rather a character who has successfully managed to not-think-about-it for a very long time – until his roommate’s request makes him realize what’s going on.

It’s sweet. It’s fun. And it’s performed wonderfully by Jason Frazier, who I honestly think is one of the best audiobook performers out there. Seriously – everything I’ve heard him perform is elevated by his skill as a narrator. If you’re at all an audiobook enthusiast, check him out.

Dear Dreamspinner, Please use Jason Frazier more

Would you listen to Blame It on the Mistletoe again? Why?

Yes. It was such a short, sweet, feel good read with excellent narration. Definitely going to listen to this again.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the characters. Even the side characters were likable.

Which character – as performed by Jason Frazier – was your favorite?

Mick. The story is told from his POVS and Jason Frazier gave him this really pleasant, sultry voice. It sounded really appropriate for a twenty-two year old guy and everything he was feeling was conveyed by the narrator in such a way that it really felt like the character was telling his story instead of just a narrator reading words on a page.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Mick realized he was in love for the first time. And with hist best friend.

Any additional comments?

I wish this was longer. And, Jason Frazier should narrate more books. I'm kind of disappointed he's only done a handful of them. He's definitely got the knack for it. If I could, I'd pay him to re-do all the audiobooks that were butchered by Jeff Gelder and Andrew Schwartz and then pay him some more to narrate other books that don't have audio versions available. So... Dreamspinner Press, if anyone actually keeps track of these reviews, there you go.

Perfect little Christmas story.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would. It was just the right amount of friendship, passion and angst.

What did you like best about this story?

The way that these two young men had fallen for each other, before either of them realized it.

Which scene was your favorite?

The 2nd kiss :)

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Again, the 2nd kiss. Not only was it a very passionate scene, there was an innocence to the scene from both men's perspectives.

Any additional comments?

Oh but I loved this book! The story itself was fantastic, add to that the stellar narration and I'd say this is a must listen.

Jason Frazier should narrate every audiobook...

let me just start by saying that i am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to audiobooks. i have a hard time with the narration. it just usually doesn't work for me. HOWEVER, now that i have heard Mr. Frazier narrate this book, i might be sold on audiobooks. his narration of this book is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT in every way. i could listen to this book over and over, his narration was that good.

the story was pretty cute. i really liked fielding a lot. his naive innocence coupled with his absolute genius makes him really appealing. i loved how sweet mick was with fielding even when he didn't fully understand his feelings for him. i felt the ending was a bit rushed and mick coming around on his feelings for fielding also felt rushed but overall a story i would recommend.

Jason needs to read every book ever.

Would you consider the audio edition of Blame It on the Mistletoe to be better than the print version?

I only listened to this book and hadn't read it before but I feel like the narration really made this book something special. It was a sweet story that I would have really enjoyed reading but the narration was so good that it really made the book even better!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blame It on the Mistletoe?

The best parts of this book were any of the sexy parts. Jason's breathy voice was so amazing! I was fanning myself frequently.

Which scene was your favorite?

I love the first kiss scene. It was so amazing. So incredibly sweet but sexy at the same time

If you could rename Blame It on the Mistletoe, what would you call it?

Jason Has a Hot, Sexy Voice. Just kidding...but not really kidding. LOL

Eargasm!

Was hat Ihnen das Hörerlebnis von Blame It on the Mistletoe besonders unterhaltsam gemacht?

It's a tricky thing when it comes to audiobooks.A good book can easily be ruined when the audiobook narration is a bore. Been there, done that. It sucks and I always felt bad for the author afterwards. On the other hand, a mediocre book can gain a lot from an outstanding performance from the narrator. I had those moments too. Which made me ditch the author and his/her books but fall in love with the narrator. And just once in a while, on a magic Sunday morning when you least expect it, you get the full package. It all comes magically together: you start a fantastic book AND get a breathtaking narration. And this is what happened here. The narrator Jason Frazier took my breath away in the very first 10 seconds! I had to start the audiobook over again for at least 5 times because I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I was listening to a sexy voice who didn't just narrate a story, no I got a full-on performance. I was immediately mesmerized and I hardly couldn't focus on the story. When I was done, I felt sorry for all the other narrator's out there, because Jason Frazier has set such a high standard with this narration that I doubt that anyone will be able to outdo him in any time soon.He became my own personal "voice hunk" since and I can't urge any author out there enough to seriously consider him when it comes to choose a narrator for your books!Highly, HIGHLY recommend!PS: The book was great too.
