Description

When a mysterious force known only as the Shadow infiltrates history, it has a suspicious target: the date October 29 in six different years spanning 999 to 1980. The Time Patrol must send its highly skilled members into the past with only twenty-four hours to stop the destruction each time.

Each targeted date features a significant event, including Sir Walter Raleigh's beheading in 1618, the American stock market crash of 1929, and the first Internet message sent in 1969. But the missions are never as clear-cut as they seem, leading the team straight into the dangerous paths of extraordinary adversaries, such as yetis, krakens, and Vikings.

As time grows short, the Time Patrol learns that no amount of training and experience can prepare them for the enemies they battle and the alternate realities they face. And now, six changes to history could lead to the ultimate catastrophe: the end of existence.

Audible narrator is one of the best<br />

I like the writings of Bob Mayer. I started the series with the NightStalkers and continued on to the Tme Patrol. Eric G Dove as the narrator makes the books come alive and is one of the best narrators I've listened to. I like the way he changes his voice to differentiate the characters and stays consistent with those voices. Driving back and forth to work is not boring listening to these stories and Eric G. Dove.

this story could not hold my attention long enough

within the first hour, I had to back up the times. this story quickly became a chore to listen to.
I can't ever relate the story fairly due to the layout of the plot

Amazing!

If you love science fiction, you'll love these books. I'm totally hooked! If you love military dramas this will also appeal to you. It has made me want to learn more about the events in the stories.

Boring

Either very boring or I am just not the right target for this .... but do enjoy time travel and sci-fi in general.

Ruined by Narrator

This may have been a good story. I wasn't able to find out as I could not get past the first 40 minutes of listening. The narrator makes no attempt at sounding like a professional performer. The biggest weakness in his performance is his casual treatment of words which makes this story sound like it is being told by a teenager, and makes every character, regardless off their background, race or nationality sound like a frat boy. He clips the ending "g" from all verbs and nouns that end in "ing" or "ng". Basically, everyone in the story is talkin' like they're just hangin' around the pool, even the Vikin's (normally referred to as Vikings). This is so consistent that once you realize what he is doin', it becomes as annoyin' as nails on a chalk board. Sir Walter Raleigh talkin' like this? Or a Vikin' killin' his enemies? Not very realistic. Secondly, he also bites off his R's like someone from "New Yawk" (or possibly Boston) and when two characters are havin' a dialogue, you can't tell their voices apart. I read a lot of this author's books, and they were all interesting and exciting. I am returning this and picking up the book instead. This narrator needs to take some speaking classes.

Refreshing installment

Bob Mayer never ceases to amaze. I've read most of his books and this one is one of the top ones. I love the what ifs on history and can't wait to see where it goes from here.
