Oestrogen – one of the most important hormones in a woman's body and a key player in our health and wellbeing throughout life.
Oestrogen does so much more than regulate our menstrual cycle. It influences our brain, mood, memory, sleep, bones, heart, skin, joints and vaginal and urinary health. So, it's hardly surprising that when oestrogen levels begin to fluctuate and decline during perimenopause and menopause, women can experience such a wide range of symptoms.
But what exactly does oestrogen do? Why is it so important? What happens when our levels start to fall? And how can we replace it safely and effectively through hormone replacement therapy, or HRT?
In this episode, I'll explain the different types of oestrogen, how they work in the body, the different ways we can replace it, and why understanding oestrogen is so important when making informed decisions about your menopause treatment.
My aim is to help you understand your hormones, recognise what's happening in your body and feel confident about the choices available to you.
