To the Western world, Dragons are perceived as omens, harbingers of death, fire breathers, gold hoarders, cave dwellers, princess thieves, the bad guys, fierce animals hungry for weak human flesh. When Western dragons open their mouths, entire cities burn to the ground. However, in the east, dragons are noble creatures, fortune bearers, protectors of the people, defenders of life itself. Stewards of the planet earth. Sea dwellers. Miracle workers. Rainmakers. Song singers. When eastern dragons open their mouths. Symphonies of kismet and serendipity come pouring out. Eastern dragons crave not human flesh. They eat sparrows because the sparrows song is said to bestow love and fortune upon anyone who hears it. And what goes in the dragon's belly comes tenfold at its mouth. Well, I have heard the sparrows song. It is unremarkable. I'd much rather hear the dragon sing.
