Five friends. One isolated cabin. One seriously unfortunate book.
We're closing out Spooky Season with a bang (and an absolutely unreasonable amount of blood)! This week on Haven’t Seen That in Forever, Ben, Nels, and Colin head deep into the Tennessee woods to revisit Sam Raimi’s 1981 cult horror classic, The Evil Dead. With a shoestring budget, buckets of fake blood, and a camera that seemingly never stops moving, Raimi created one of the most influential horror films of all time.
We break down the movie's chaotic production, Bruce Campbell's legendary performance as Ash Williams, the groundbreaking practical effects, and the sheer insanity of what happens when you accidentally unleash ancient evil in the middle of nowhere. Does this low-budget nightmare still deliver the scares more than four decades later, or have its effects and performances aged like something buried beneath the cabin?
As we put Spooky Season to rest, we're going out the only way that makes sense: with demonic possession, questionable decision-making, and enough fake blood to make a Halloween store file for bankruptcy.
Grab your chainsaw (wrong movie, we know), stay out of the cellar, and join us as we find out whether The Evil Dead still deserves its place in horror history!
