Jilly Watson didn’t join the Witchcraft Club because she believed in magic. She joined because she needed friends.
Moving away from London and transferring to Grenshaw Academy has left Jilly struggling to find her place. Then she meets Alvina, Prunella, and Tabertha. They’re quirky, occasionally embarrassing, and completely obsessed with witchcraft, but they accept Jilly as one of their own. Their after-school coven seems harmless enough. The spells never work anyway.
Until one does.
After Alvina brings an old leather-bound book into their club room, Jilly sees something during a ritual that shouldn’t be possible. Her friends insist nothing happened, but the strange incidents don’t stop. Their behavior begins to change, and Jilly can no longer convince herself that everything has a reasonable explanation.
Her search for answers leads her to an eccentric shopkeeper who seems to know far more about real witchcraft than Jilly expected.
Jilly wanted friends, not magic. Now she’s beginning to wonder exactly what she’s gotten herself into.
