What if the greatest threat to your spiritual growth isn't difficulty, but comfort?

In this episode of the Living Out 180 Podcast, Kendall and Pastor Brad continue their series through the book of Esther, exploring how comfort can quietly lead to complacency and how God often positions us for purposes we cannot yet see.

Esther has become queen of Persia, but outside the palace, a dangerous plot is unfolding. Haman's pride and anger toward Mordecai lead to a decree threatening the destruction of the Jewish people. While Esther enjoys the privileges of her position, she is unaware of the crisis developing around her.

Her story raises an important question: What are we missing because we've become comfortable?

Together, Kendall and Brad discuss the dangers of casual faith, the responsibilities that come with influence, and the difference between reaching a destination and discovering God's purpose.

Sometimes the position we've worked so hard to reach isn't the reward. It's preparation for something greater.

And sometimes the greatest obstacle to following God isn't opposition. It's our unwillingness to leave what's familiar.

Through conversations about life, leadership, and discipleship, this episode challenges us to examine whether we're still growing, recognizing the needs around us, and making decisions that require genuine faith.

God doesn't position us for comfort. He positions us for purpose.

Key Scripture:

  • Esther 3:1–15
  • Romans 8:28

Three questions to consider:

  1. Where have I become so comfortable that I've stopped growing?
  2. What might God be preparing me for in my current season?
  3. When was the last time I made a decision that genuinely required faith?

This week's reflection:

Are you living with a faith that requires something of you, or have you become comfortable simply maintaining what you already have?

Don't confuse comfort with completion. God may still be preparing you for something you cannot see yet.
