The dashcam froze Pete Sheridan's truck - and shattered Gloria's alibi
In this episode, we follow the timeline and clues that refocused a six-month missing person investigation back onto a one-point-two-mile gravel path. What did a still image from a neighbor’s dashcam reveal about Lauren Cook’s final minutes and the neighbor who misdirected police?
Person: Lauren Cook
Date: August 9, 2011
Location: Sycamore Easement Road
Person: Gloria Bailey
Person: Pete Sheridan
- Lauren, a 28-year-old art teacher, walked the Easement every Tuesday with a tote of paints and made a final notebook entry at 8:02 p.m.
- Gloria Bailey, living at 414 Sycamore Easement Road, told police she saw Lauren pass and wave at 8:15 p.m., redirecting the investigation away from the Easement.
- For six weeks Harwick PD pursued the theory Lauren left voluntarily, canvassing bus stations and shelters while Marcus Cook watched the search move off the path.
- A neighbor’s dashcam captured Pete Sheridan’s truck stopped on the Easement at 8:07 p.m., contradicting his claim to have been working in Dellbrook County that night.
- Pete Sheridan, 44, was Gloria’s boyfriend and a handyman at her property; his known schedule and proximity to Lauren’s routine placed three critical facts in one frame.
