The Major's Wife

Diana King is a psychiatrist who closely collaborates with military families. Her marriage to a major in the US Army might not seem unusual, except that her husband is African American. She is a white woman from the rural South. Her father makes it very clear he does not support their relationship. The drama unfolds when King and her family are reassigned to Fort Rucker, Alabama, where Diana's family has long been established. King is called to serve in Iraq, completing two tours during the Gulf War. While he is away, his wife continues her psychiatric work and provides post-combat counseling for soldiers returning with war-related issues.
