- At 10:28 AM the same morning, the train reached Portville and James’s seat was empty while his gym bag remained on board.
- Pamela Marshall found two polished black oxfords on the culvert headwall at 8:42 AM on July 11, 2019.
- The shoes had double-bowed laces and no mud on the soles, indicating they were carried to the location.
- Christine Ford identified the shoes by a specific scuff on the right heel from a 2017 parking garage incident.
