Hello Club Members and happy Friday! This week, we are leaving Earth behind to analyze a masterpiece of cosmic dread and sci-fi horror: Ridley Scott’s Alien (1979)!
While space might be silent, we certainly aren't. We are breaking down the terrifying realities of blue-collar labor under the thumb of a heartless, faceless corporate empire, proving that The Company is the ultimate villain of the franchise. We dive deep into how the film brilliantly subverts traditional gender roles; completely discarding the "damsel in distress" trope to give us the ultimate, hyper-logical female badass in Ellen Ripley. From the claustrophobic dread of the Nostromo to the incredible survivalist instincts of our crew (and our favorite space cat, Jonesy), we dissect why this film remains the gold standard of sci-fi horror.
Please give us a like, follow, and review and share with your friends and family. You can even share it with your creepy science officer who is definitely an android, that's none of our business.
Also, don't forget to keep an eye out on our IGs to vote on what you want us to cover next as we head further into our July lineup!
Staaaaaayyyy spooky!
