Gopi Krishna
Gopi Krishna (1903-1984) was living as an ordinary householder in India when at the age of 34 he experienced a powerful awakening of the spiritual force known as Kundalini. This event marked the beginning of a 12 year period of transformation of his brain and nervous system, eventually culminating in his attainment of a perennial state of higher consciousness. Based on his own experiences, and the accounts of numerous mystics and sages, both from the East and the West, he came to the conclusion that Kundalikni, while spiritual, is a psycho-physiological mechanism in the body guiding the evolution of the human race to the attainment of an entirely new faculty of perception, enlightenment, or higher consciousness. An empirical investigation of this mechanism, he believed, would lead to a radical revision of our present concepts about mind, consciousness, the ultimate nature of reality, and our ability to perceive it.
