London, 1920: Heiress Olivia Gray is bored out of her mind. After saving lives as an ambulance driver in the war, being trapped in her mother's palatial drawing room feels like a prison sentence she will never escape from. Even before her mother launches into yet another lament that there are no young men left for Olivia to marry...
The last thing on Olivia's mind is a husband. She is determined to find herself a job as a photographer and make her own way in the world.
With no one willing to hire a woman however, developing some old rolls of film for a friend will at least get her out of the house. But once Olivia sets foot in the dark room she discovers the body of a dead man.
When the victim's fiancée is found murdered only days later, Olivia knows there must be a killer on the loose.
Her only clues are a valuable diamond ring left at the scene of the second murder and a missing piece of worthless costume jewellery.
Everyone agrees detective work is most unsuitable for a young lady. But the disapproval of the police (and her mother) only spur Olivia on to solve the mystery and catch the killer before they strike again...
