In June 2026, we welcome Mitsuharu Yanamoto, the creator of the 2017 Manga Taisho Grand Prize-winning manga Hibiki: Shousetsuka ni Naru Houhou (Hibiki: How to Become a Novelist) and, fresh off the conclusion of Ryu to Ichigo.
In this second installment of our four-part series, we continue the discussion on what makes a manga truly interesting and well-crafted. We also hear about Yanamoto’s move to Tokyo, his experiences in the dōjin (independent comics) scene, and the journey that led to his professional debut in commercial manga magazines.
