Many people carry guilt and shame from past mistakes, often wishing they could go back and change what’s already been done. But the truth is, there is no going back—only the present moment exists.
From a higher perspective, there is no past or future, only who you are right now. When you hold onto past mistakes, you’re not leaving them behind—you’re bringing them into your present and shaping your future with that same energy. In this way, unresolved guilt continues to define your life.
The first step is awareness: recognizing that dwelling on the past keeps you stuck. The second is making a conscious decision to become who you want to be now—not someone defined by old mistakes, but someone shaped by growth and understanding.
If you’ve truly reflected on your past—if you’ve examined why you made certain choices and learned from them—then you are no longer the same person. You’ve changed. In a sense, you’ve stepped into a new version of yourself where those past actions no longer define your path.
The root of suffering—anxiety, fear, stress—comes from not being present. Our minds replay the past or worry about the future, pulling us away from the now. Yet in the present moment, there is no psychological pain—only awareness.
Animals naturally live this way, free from regret and worry. As humans, our challenge is to train the mind to do the same.
Your past was part of your journey. It taught you something. Once the lesson is learned, there is no need to carry the weight.
Let it go. Be here. And choose who you are now.
