While HBO Max has a lot of big shows, the streaming service is set to change its reputation forever—for better or worse—with the arrival of its biggest and most ambitious project ever. HBO occupies a unique place in the annals of TV history. Launched in the early ‘70s, the cable network first became a cultural force to be reckoned during the late ‘90s. Admittedly, earlier network hits like The X-Files, Homicide: Life on the Street, and Twin Peaks helped usher in the Second Golden Age of Television.
