Good morning. Virginia. I'm Aaron Jolly. That rain yesterday left the ground soaked. And with overnight lows sitting at a damp 42 degrees, we've got some dense fog in the river valleys. Visibility could drop to a quarter mile or less in spots. Take it slow on the roads until the sun burns this layer off. In the next 24 hours. Central Virginia is in for a treat today, climbing to 69 degrees — that's a solid 41 degrees warmer than usual for early March. You'll see partly sunny skies, though keep an eye to the sky after 4 P.M. For a brief shower. Tonight holds steady and mild at 51 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Down in Hampton Roads, that patchy fog lingers until around 11 A.M. You'll top out near 66 degrees with a southwest breeze at 6 to 9 miles an hour. Interestingly, temperatures slide back into the upper 50s this afternoon as cooler air drifts in from the coast. Overnight, you settle at 49. Out in Western Virginia, the fog clears by mid-morning. Highs hit 69 degrees with light winds. There's a slight chance of a shower between 3 and 5 P.M., but most of us stay dry. Lows tonight remain mild in the lower 50s. Here's the big story. We're looking at a significant warm-up. Thursday brings mostly sunny skies with highs near 80 degrees inland — that's potentially record-breaking territory for early March. Friday and Saturday could hit 82 degrees in Central and Western Virginia, running nearly 41 degrees above normal. Hampton Roads stays cooler thanks to that coastal influence, with highs in the upper 60s to near 70. Rain chances return this weekend. Saturday night into Sunday brings scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm, especially out west. The pattern stays unsettled into early next week. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day now. Sunrise is at 6:38, sunset at 6:07. Tonight's full moon will have some competition from those clouds rolling in. Grab your sunglasses.
