À propos de ce contenu audio
The Shibboleth by T. J. Mullane is a work of historical fiction that weaves documented history with speculative interpretation to explore some of the darkest chapters of the twentieth century.
Set against the backdrop of World War II, the novel confronts Nazi racism, ideological extremism, and the fragile relationship between science, power, and human life. It also draws inspiration from the early history of immunology and the later global emergence of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
While it is historically accepted that AIDS emerged from Africa and crossed into the human population during the twentieth century, The Shibboleth imagines an alternative explanation—one shaped by fear, secrecy, and political ambition. The novel explores a fictional theory in which early biomedical experimentation, driven by a desire to strengthen human immunity, instead gives rise to unforeseen and devastating consequences.
It is important to note that while The Shibboleth is rooted in real historical events and scientific inquiry, many of its conclusions are fictional. The story does not claim to present documented truth, but rather uses speculative fiction to question how ideology, racism, and unchecked power can distort science and endanger humanity.
