Artificial intelligence does the seemingly impossible - driving cars, trading stocks, and teaching children. But facing the sea change that AI will bring can be paralyzing. How should companies set strategies, governments design policies, and people plan their lives for a world so different from what we know? In Prediction Machines, three eminent economists recast the rise of AI as a drop in the cost of prediction. With this single, masterful stroke, they lift the curtain on the AI-is-magic hype and show how basic tools from economics provide clarity about the AI revolution and a basis for action by CEOs, managers, policy makers, investors, and entrepreneurs.

"Correlation does not imply causation". This mantra has been invoked by scientists for decades and has led to a virtual prohibition on causal talk. But today, that taboo is dead. The causal revolution, sparked by Judea Pearl and his colleagues, has cut through a century of confusion and placed causality - the study of cause and effect - on a firm scientific basis.

Nice Consistent Format
It's helpful to hear these case studies within a consistent outline. It seems like the technology is so new in its implementation and maybe even very proprietary to learn more about the marked improvements and insights, but there was enough meat on the bone to make a compelling case to take the technology very seriously.

Shallow book with an unengaging read
The information is on a super basic level and the reading is not engaging. There is a lot of repetition of content, and a lot of “hype talk”. For instance super basic descriptive statistics is called AI. Clearly the authors just got the sales pitch from the interviewed companies and pasted it in. It’s super frustrating how the narrator emphasizes ”machine learning” every time he says it, like he expects a drumroll after every time he says it. Another super irritating reading detail is that all the frikking time the narrator says “Artificial Intelligence, A, I”. YES, I already knew that when I started reading the book, and certainly after the 100:th time you repeated it I got it, STOP REPEATING that abbreviation goddamnit!
