Description
Ever since her step-mom brought her a snow globe of the New York City skyline, Annie has wanted to visit the beautiful, big city. Since it's nearing the time of Annie's rumschpringe - the time when Amish youth experience Englisch life to make a decision whether to live in that world or become baptized into the Amish faith - the family decides a visit is a good idea. They watch the Macy's Christmas parade, admire the decorated store windows, skate at the Rockefeller Center rink and - Annie's favorite - get a glimpse of a writer's life while visiting the New York Times building. But others aren't as thrilled with Annie's lure to the Big Apple. Aaron has long been attracted to Annie and is sure he's in love. As he watches her engage in big city life, he grows concerned that she won't want to return to their quieter life. Will Annie follow Aaron back home? Or stay and pursue her dreams? Competing for her attention, Aaron sets out to show Annie that Christmas isn't about the glitz and glamour, but about family, love, and the birth of Jesus.

Many Faces of Love
What a wonderful Christmas story of hope, experiences and new beginnings! Annie lost her own mother when she was a little girl, so little she barely remembers her. To Annie, Jenny is her mother, the only mother she remembers. Even though Jenny lived most of her life with the Englisch (her father left the Amish of Lancaster County and never returned), she had come back to her grandmother's house when she was wounded by a bombing on foreign writing assignment that nearly took her life. Here she met and fell in love with Annie's father, Matthew. Now, many years later, she is being invited to New York City to be honored for her media work covering the children in war torn countries, leading to the formation of a nonprofit organization which continued to help the children. Although, Jenny is now Amish, she has continued to write, remotely from Lancaster County. Annie aspires to be a writer like Jenny. And looks forward to the family trip to New York to see where her mother used to live and work. There is a whirl of emotions for the entire family . . . including Aaron, Annie's best friend since childhood . . . Fear, excitement and joy combine to test the Bontrager family in an environment that is NOTHING like Lancaster County. And Annie is faced with choices that are overwhelming . . . An unconventional Amish story, but SO good!

Just ok
The book started out quite good but lost steam as it progressed. Not a waste of time. Just not very engaging.

Confused about Johnny's age
I love these series only i think They into suddenly and in this particular book I don't understand the author said Johnny was 12 years old but then and other parts it acts like he's much younger like he's jumping on the chair I don't see a 12 year-old jumping on the chair And Like whenever he went ice skating And disappeared they acted like you was about 5. I think there needs to be an epilogue. What happened to the book, what he made her, and the snow globe?

My thinking of how it would be more enjoyable and easier to listen to.?
Find it difficult to figure out who was speaking at times, a woman or a man. Add more than one person narrating.

Nice story; I liked the NYC scenes
I don't know when this takes place, but there is no mention of the World Trade Center at all, either as the original Twin Towers or its current Freedom Tower Memorial
