Description
Anne of the Island was published in 1915, seven years after the best-selling Anne of Green Gables, partly because of the continuing clamor for more Anne from her fans - a fan base that continues to grow today!
In this continuation of the story of Anne Shirley, Anne leaves Green Gables and her work as a teacher in Avonlea to pursue her original dream (which she gave up in Anne of Green Gables) of taking further education at Redmond College in Nova Scotia. Gilbert Blythe and Charlie Sloane enroll as well, as does Anne's friend from Queen's Academy, Priscilla Grant. During her first week of school, Anne befriends Philippa Gordon, a beautiful girl whose frivolous ways charm her. Philippa (Phil for short) also happens to be from Anne's birthplace of Bolingbroke, Nova Scotia. Anne, always the good scholar, studies hard, but she also has many life lessons. This book sees Anne leave behind girlhood to blossom into a mature young woman.

Wonderful series of books!
I have enjoyed reading the series of books as a younger adult and now I am enjoying listening to them in my middle-age. In terms of narrator I thought that Colleen Winton was wonderful, it was nice to hear a Canadian accent for a very classic Canadian work of literature. well done!

Good but could have been better. Let me explain.
The narration was expressive and most characters in the story were clearly identifiable, however, I felt the narrator didn't capture the essence of Anne's personality. I think, Anne, in this rendition, came off more ordinary a girl then the spirited character I'm used to thinking her as. Also, in the narrator's attempt to make Gilbert sound masculine she lost his gentle and good natured qualities. Little Davey's voice is unlike any little boy's voice I have ever heard and was very amusing. All in all, I enjoyed it well enough but I had to use my own imagination to correct what I thought the narrator got wrong.

Super!!!!!!!
This audio book was more than very much enjoyable. I laughed, I cried, and most importantly, I smiled. This book is all and more than what I hoped for Anne when she was older. It is filled with twists and turns! Anne is officially my favourite heroine. The narration was pretty good. It was filled with expression and made the story enjoyable. That is why I rated it the way I did. (L. M. Montgomery ROCKS!!) ;)

narration
sometimes the narration was good, sometimes not. the narrator has a lovely Canadian accent but I didn't especially love her portrayal of Anne as a silly naive mouse, even though Anne is silly and naive.
the miss pronounced words ground my nerves as did the unnecessary clear annunciation of certain sections of the book and of the letter "t", as if she were speaking to a non-native English speaker.

bad editing
Colleen Winton was not a bad performer. However, the editing sometimes made her seem like one. There were multiple times when it was clear the different takes have been pieced together because her tone or volume change suddenly, sometimes even in the middle of a sentence. There was one instance where it had been edited so poorly that she was practically speaking over herself. Disappointing considering how much I love this story. They spent hours recording, they couldn't have spent a few more minutes and ensuring the editing was done properly?

Kindred Spirits will love this Audio books
This reader captures Anne's spirit and voice and is versatile enough create unique audio personalities for all of Lucy's beloved characters. I lost myself in Kingsport, Bolingbrook and best of all, Avonlea. This book was truly enjoyable and with a cry-worthy ending.

Nothing Special
I’m a bit ambivalent about this instalment. It was alright, I didn’t dislike it, but because I am determined to FINALLY read the entire series I felt like this was just a stepping stone and it did not really entertain me.
Ah well, win some lose some.

WHY Colleen Winton? Why not Mary Sarah?🤬
Lucy Maud Montgomery is an amazing author and Anne is fantastic! However Colleen Winton was HORRIBLE!!!🤢 She made Gilbert sound like a 40 year old morron with a speech impediment! 🤦🏻♀️ She makes some characters sound DUMB!!! I don’t understand why they couldn’t have had Mary Sarah Agliotta narrate it!

Great job!
I thought the narrator was a great fit for this role. Anytime I can get lost in to a book and not notice the narrator, it is a great thing :-).

Great narration
This is my favorite book of all time, and the narration did it justice. The Canadian accent was very fitting.
