Perfection
As expected, it was as thrilling and entertaining as all of the other books, and the narration of it made me love every second of it.

Still one of the best series ever
I've lost count of how many books this is now (8? 10?) but it doesn't matter, they are still fantastic. The story features another mysterious killing with supernatural elements and Peter and the team at the Folly have to track down the perpetrator. There are appearances by most of the usual crowd, Lesley, the foxes, the River Goddeses and a new trainee. A nice piece of family development as well. Ben's writing remains fresh, clever, witty and fast paced whilst being detailed enough to describe a scene so well, you'd swear you could see it. And I maintain Kobna Holdbrook-Smith is the best narrator I have ever heard. You need to have read the rest of the books to understand this one, but if you haven't got this series, get it.

another top performance
the problem with thisbook is that once you get too the last part you realise that once you finish you will have to wait months or longer for the next one.
as always a well writtten and researched story with plenty of funny bits and nuggets to remember
hollbrok-smith is always perfect as peter going from polite voice to private and through the other characters like he is them all
now get working on the next one!

Entertaining page turner
Entertaining as always. Don't read or listen if you did not read or listen the previous books.
Would be hard to follow if you did not read/listen previous parts. Some characters from previous books are mentioned, talked about or play their roles but are not reintroduced.
I think that is ok
It takes the series in new and interesting directions.

Kobner Holdbrook-Smith’s narration is superb
While these stories are always excellent, with enough entertaining banter, twists and entertainment to keep the formula fresh every time, it is Kobner Holdbrook-Smith’s exceptional narration that lifts them to the A list level. Accents and characters are impeccably managed and the flow is smooth and utterly engaging. You know there’s something magical happening when the narrator and the words disappear behind the inner visualisation of the story, and don’t ever call attention to themselves.

As unexpected as expected
Soon father-to-be Peter Grant is back and gets entangled in yet another weird mystery this time involving the Spanish inquisition, the Sons of Weyland, dead airmen, foxes and more. Quite a few of our favourite characters from previous novels make at least a cameo appearance - including Leslie May! But more importantly, Peter and the other members of the Special Assessment Unit have to answer the question: Do angels exist? And if not, who the hell is on a killing spree in London and why? (And we will of course witness the birth of the twins.)
Much darker than the previous ones, Ben Aaronovitch has once again written an entertaining and sometimes also educational novel - who knew that there are Silver Vaults in London? - and needless to say, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith is - yet again - doing a fantastic job bringing all the characters to live. Thank you for the brilliant performance and a thoroughly entertaining listening experience!!

A bit of a bridge book
MAYBE this book is a bit less compelling than some of the others, maybe it was my personal circumstances while listening but this book feels more like a set up, more utalitarian, if you will than some of tge others. I have a suspicion that it will *read" even better just before the next installment will come out.

Solid Story
Solid story with favourite character and (as always) excellent narration.
Wishing for some more Peter - Nightingale interaction, but can understand that the overarching story is developing in a different direction.
