This is a dark fantasy romance that will shake you to your core in the best way. Some people say that Alchemised is not a romantasy. I disagree! For me it’s a romantasy with 70 % plot and 30 % love story.

I will not put any more tropes on this, because I think it would take away the story. Just believe me when I tell you that you really want to read this. There is everything in there we want in a great romantasy. 🥰
This is a 1000 something pages large book, the audiobook is around 36 hours long, and I enjoyed every minute of it. It is slow paced at some points, but there is always something happening to keep you hooked.
Everybody kept saying “it’s so dark” and “check the trigger warnings”, so I was kinda afraid to read this book. I’m not very sensitive to anything brutal described on pages, so I didn’t. 😂 And I am happy about that, because everything that happened took me by surprise and made this book an absolute masterpiece for me.
I loved the writing style. The whole story may seem a bit confusing at the beginning, but don’t let that discourage you! Accept the fact that you don’t know what is meant by some terms, you’ll start to understand as the book continues.
I also really liked the magic system, the amazingly built world (though dark and brutal), the backstory behind the war between the alchemists and the necromancers, the twists and turns. Helena is a strong and selfless FMC and there definitely is character development I can’t talk about without giving spoilers.
The narrator of the audiobook did an amazing job. I enjoyed her performance so much!
This story will live rent free in my head for years, so I’d highly recommend reading it! ❤️
