    Description

In this bundle, I've included the first three books and a short story bonus - "When Jack Met Diane". Find out how the leading characters met and started their journey together.

    Book 1: It Has Begun

Could you survive a post-apocalyptic world?

Jack and Diane were two average Americans living in small towns, or so it seems. Jack is a prepper and has been most of his life. The day started out like any other; Diane and Jack started their morning routines and equipped their every day carry items. Survival is for the prepared.

But when disaster strikes the United States, Jack's lifetime of preparing will be put to the test. Grabbing his two dogs and their bugout bags, the duo must escape their hometowns and find a safe place to seek shelter. What really happened, and will Jack's years of prepping be enough to keep them all safe?

Find out why this made best seller!

    Book 2: Diggin In

The follow up to the best seller has arrived!

Continue the journey of Jack and Diane as they navigate the new reality. With more attacks, the duo and Jack's group decide this is not a one-off attack.

It's time to dig in and prepare for what's coming next. Meet new characters and find out what the terrorists planned next.

Diggin In has more action, more dialogue, more characters, and intrigue.

    Book 3: Summer's End

Two months have passed since Jack dug in. Jack and Diane offer to help Robin find her family as new threats emerge close to home and in far-off lands.

The country is still without power and the coming winter will be brutal. Jack’s group is prepared, but how will everyone else make it through a cold winter?

Summer’s End has more action and new characters as Jack and Diane expand their reach.

    Start the journey today.

A realistic look at a realistic disaster.

The disaster in which Kevin Barry McGuire is a very plausible attack that could happen on American soil. The book follows a prepped and his friends as they find ways to survive in a world post electronics and infrastructure.

The story was a bit rough around the edges but I enjoyed it. Generally, I'm not a fan of realistic disaster fiction but I did find that I liked the characters McGuire wrote.

The narrators of the books were also a little rough. some of their narrations were a little stilted.

I think it's a good story and worth a listen if you're interested in realistic disaster/post-apocalyptic stories.

    Short Post-Apocalyptic

I love Post-Apocalyptic listens without zombies and wished it was longer. Enjoyed the characters of Jack and Diane and their dogs Mercedes/Basha. They move into his cabin and start to prepare for their survival. There are new characters thru the 3 short books so likable a couple not so nice. Recommend is you enjoy short Post-Apocalyptic

    Good Adventure Series

Relatable situations happen often. Narration flows well, though the editing needs a bit of polish. Progressively organized well.
I recommend this book to ages 16 and older due to detailed violence and some language.

A great book by a new writer of dystopian fiction.

I had not read any of the author's prior books. It seems this is his first attempt at a series of dystopian novels when I researched him. It is a very good start to what I am sure will be a promising endeavor.

The story centers around a couple that had met initially while at work. They became boyfriend-girlfriend.

The story kicks off while out to lunch; an event happens that will change their lives for the foreseeable future. The man had been preparing for some unknown event for a long time in Washington state. His girlfriend more or less goes along with that quirk and enjoys the peripheral activities such as archery.

The story really starts after the event. He has a small cottage near Mount Rainier that they escaped to as they are unsure what has just happened to the United States. They have a small band of like-minded individuals that they are working with cooperatively she is not aware of. Along the way, they meet good people and bad people.

How do they handle the events? How will they make it through the harsh winters near Mount Rainier? Where will they get food from?
    What has just happened?
This is the framework of the story

The narrator is a new one as well. He is good and he impressed me with his ability to correctly pronounce some of the names in Washington state that are from native Americans and can be tongue twisters. He does a good job of mimicking male and female voices young and old

If you enjoy dystopian fiction I think you will enjoy the first book It will give you a taste of the series. All three will bring you up to speed for the series. I for one will be listening waiting eagerly for the next book in the series
I was given this book by the author to review. The opinions are those of mine and mine alone and are honest after reflection upon the book

    Survival of the prepared

I was provided this audiobook free in exchange for an honest review.

I liked this story a lot. I liked it enough that I wanted much more. Even though it is 3 books in one recording I found it too short. It was over too fast.

I liked most of the characters. The villains could have been painted in greater detail. The narrator in book 1 was not great.

Overall it's thumbs up. I will keep an eye out for more.

A little ditty 'bout Jack & Diane!

Here we have a brief apocalyptic disaster imposed on our good ole U.S.A. by terrorists. Yes, but what type of terrorists? The tale is not bad, it’s just elementary my dear Watson. What seems strange to me is that the story revolves around this female survivor who lost her husband and son. Jack & Diane dedicate their time and resources to help her in the heartland. The other oddity I picked out was that Jack, this extraordinary prepper, did not pack a pair of two-way radios. Anyway, this is where three short stories plus a bonus equal to one novella. This is a really fantastic book.

I really enjoyed this one. It reminded me a little of seeing Red Dawn as a kid (the Swayze version of course). The characters were great and the story moved pretty quickly without seeming rushed. I really liked the way the world view is played out. It makes for a nice change of pace from the same old tropes of the "collase" genre. Also the main character isnt too gung-ho or badass. Hes just a mostly competent kid who is stuck in his circumstances and he does the best he can without being perfect or always making the right choices. All in all it's a great read and worth a credit.

Some things that put me off:

Some of the charachters die (not really a spoiler since he mentions it in the first chapter) but it was hard to care about most of them because they didnt have very much depth. They felt like they were red shirts in an old star trek episode.

The main character thinks about weird relationship stuff a lot. I guess I've never been a teen in a life or death situation, so maybe this is realistic, but it seems like he has bigger fish to fry.

But dont let that scare you away. The book(s) on the whole is a great read.

I recieved this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review.

    dystopia

I loved the first book I listened to and I was happy that I had the next two without doing anything. However, books two and three need a little work. I did not believe in Diane after what she did. I found it really hard to believe. It felt like she changed personality all of a sudden. I also felt like we were missing a few scenes of course these are novellas so we can't get everything we want. Other than this it is a really good bundle. I did listen to it from beginning to end. If there are any more in this series then I would definitely listen/read it.

    This was pretty good

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a pretty good disaster/adventure story. It is built well and had plenty of action and story line to keep my interest throughout all the books. Granted, the whole thing is 5.5 hours, so each book is not very long by themselves. If you like a good surival story with a decent narrator(s) this is a viable choice. I'd be open to more by this author.
