Description
Blood stains the altar. Can she be found?
Paula Maguire, forensic psychologist is called in to investigate a missing girl and the disappearance of a holy relic in Claire McGowan's exhilarating fourth novel in the series, A Savage Hunter. The Paula Maguire series is sure to enthral fans of Stuart MacBride and Lee Child.
Victim: Female. Twenty-two years of age.
Reason for investigation: Missing person.
ID: Alice Morgan. Student. Last seen at a remote religious shrine in Ballyterrin.
Alice Morgan's disappearance raises immediate questions for forensic psychologist Paula Maguire. Alice, the daughter of a life peer in the Home Office, has vanished along with a holy relic - the bones of a saint - and the only trace is the bloodstains on the altar.
With no body to confirm death, the pressure in this high-profile case is all-consuming, and Paula knows that she will have to put her own life, including her imminent marriage, on hold, if they are to find the truth.
A connection to a decades-old murder immediately indicates that all may not be as it seems; as the summer heat rises and tempers fray, can Alice be found or will they learn that those that are hungry for vengeance may be the most savage of all?

Liked this MUCH more than the previous one!
Wasn't as wrapped around the "Ra"; won't give a procedural 5 stars when they add a side "love" interest (or in this case multiple "love" interests) because if you want that stuff by a Harlequin, otherwise, ticks the boxes! Thank you author and Audible, author is a Top-notch writer (very well-written retrospectives in this one) author merely needs to write "straight" romances or "straight" police procedurals, and NEVER mix the two genres (I HOPE author chooses police procedurals)! :)

getting bored
The stories are very very good, the aerator as well.
But, Jaysus, can there be ONE book without raped girls having babies at 15? Ireland is more than just one big pedophile anti-women country.
I must admit I'm getting bored and annoyed at the same rate.

Not her best
some clichees, some repetitions from previous books, some not so logical twists. as alice the speaker had a little bit too much tears and emotions in her voice for my taste.
sometimes the speaker repeats sentences, that probibly should have edited. thats in all books from this series so far
