As the youngest of the King of Oldenburg’s eight sons, Layton is determined to prove his worth and is unwilling to turn a blind eye to Napoleon’s encroaching privateers. When Layton embarks on a journey to England, it is for one purpose: to petition the British navy for aid. But when he becomes acquainted with the lovely Lady Aribella, he cannot deny their powerful connection. Amid the intrigues and schemes within the walls of the palace, Layton and Aribella know a future together is impossible - but torn between loyalty and love, will they risk everything to follow their hearts?

A Beautiful story rich with history
I always love Jen Geigle Johnson’s books, as they are well-researched, and equally, well-crafted. Not surprisingly, this was no exception. I enjoyed the glimpse into the courts of King George III, and loved getting to “know” Queen Charlotte. But most importantly, the love story Johnson wove together is so much fun. It kept me guessing to the very end as to how and if everything would work out for Lady Arabella and Prince Lleyton. It was so rich with conflict and obstacles, the odds seemed almost insurmountable at times. As a note specific to audiobooks, the narrator does a wonderful job telling this story. Her narration adds to the story in a perfect way.
sweet clean interesting story
sweet fictional story of Oldenburg and England with fun application to historical wartime personalities. I enjoyed this audio performance.
