They say money is power, but I'm not sure this is what they meant.
So there I was, minding my own business and living out my days as a drone in a corporate machine. A cog in the machine if you will, a little greasy and burning out quickly. My bills were stacking up, rent was due, and to top it off, my car broke down—again. Figuring everything was hopeless, I decided to buy a lottery ticket, a decision that would ultimately change my life in ways I never considered possible.
My name is Trianna Von Drake. Kind of extra, I know, but it's me. Buying that lottery ticket seemed innocent and fruitless, but I was wrong, dead wrong. Not long after, I found myself living a lush life I had only dreamed of, but it wasn't the end of my problems.
Just as I was getting used to being happy most of the time, some asshole named Bach shows up with an offer that was too good to be true, and I should have trusted my gut on that one. A manufactured way to give humans the ability to use magic? Far-fetched for sure, but the pitch was interesting enough to look into, if only for the entertainment value.
If only I had known then I was getting myself into the middle of a terrible secret that threatened me, my loved ones, and perhaps the world itself.
