Incredible
George Orwell was a visionary. So much of what he wrote sounds worryingly like a recepee followed by some governments.
The reading of the is great and I and a hard time stopping once started.
The tone was good and understandable even for a French speaker like me

Great story on a omnipotent power
A warning on totalitarism power and consequences on the control of citizens in all aspects : information, language, and oppression. An even-more relevant book in 2020 where digital broadens opportunities and speed of information. Reminded me why democracy, debate and liberties/duties are so important. And how we should live up these values to the digital world (GDPR, ...)

Wincott does an exceptional work.
Must read book and should be there in your library always. It certainly is a classic. What makes it more special his wincott's narration. You can literally experience the fear of the author. The book is timeless because how Orwell predicted it in 1949 and the same can be seen happening now. State surveillance.

Great book
What made the experience of listening to Nineteen Eighty-Four the most enjoyable?
I felt I was with the narrator. Experiencing the pain and horror. Experiencing the thought process. I enjoyed how different the story of this book is.
What other book might you compare Nineteen Eighty-Four to and why?
None so far. This book is pretty unique.

1984 was supposed to be a warning...not a manual
A must read for everybody who wants to know were leftwing and progressive policies will inevitablely lead every society. "Who controls the past, controls the future; who controls the present controls the past". Newspeak, 2 minutes of hate, thought police in form of cancel culture..as I said, this book was supposed to be a warning and not a manual!!

Depressing AF but could not stop thinking about it
Somehow I never got to reading the book in 33 years but now I made up for it. The story was amazing, it is trully a masterpiece, no doubt about it. The storyteller was amazing also

Timeless
After having read 1984 in school many years ago, re-reading/listening it many years later gave me an entirely new feeling of understanding. I'm not sure if it's my age, my grown intellect or the changes in society that is providing me with this new perspective. All I can say is that I am convinced that this book should be required literature for simply everybody. Orwell truly understood how to write about an imagined future without relying too much on science fiction. Instead, he simply focused on the fragility of the human mind and showed the danger off overestimating one's mental strength in a system that doesn't only know about this weakness but build a society on it.

Leider aktueller denn je im Sept 2020.
Sehr spannend und leider sehr aktuell. Vielleicht hätte ich es in der aktuellen Lage nicht hören sollen denn in den heutigen Nachrichten gab es fast genau die selben Meldungen wie von der Telimachine. Absolut Hörenswert besonders im Original if you know what i mean

Impressive and frightening
It is a remarkable story and very frightening comparing it to recent developments in the global theater, who seem to have studied this book in great detail and decided it was a great idea to implement it in reality.

Sehr angenehme Stimme & einzigartige Story
Der Sprecher des englischen Hörbuches hat eine sehr angenehme Stimme der man gut zuhören kann. Vor allem in den längeren Passagen, in denen sehr viel erklärt wird, war das sehr angenehm.
Das Buch selbst ist natürlich einsame Spitze! Wer eine gute Dystopie sucht sollte auf jeden Fall 1984 lesen und sich nicht davon abschrecken lassen dass es eine so bekannte Story ist. Denn George Orwell beweist hier wie auch in seinen anderen Werken, wie gut er den menschlichen Verstand, aber auch Gesellschaft und Politik versteht und das MUSS MAN GESEHEN HABEN.

Heavily overrated and bland
Intriguing plot, but very unfortunately a quite lengthy, bland and uninspired storyline. The author keeps obsessing over the depicted world. The reader or listener feels forced into feeling shocked by the story and the setting, through constantly repeating details. Which turned to annoyance and boredom. The main storyline always appears to develop, but then is crushed down again and again by insignificant deviations that feel incredibly tedious. I struggled to keep listening until the end, which, to no surprise, is completely foreseeable and mediocre. From all the public praise for this book, I expected so much more and was bitterly disappointed. What a shame, since the central concept of this book could have been turned into something great.
The speaker of this Audio book did a great job though!

Visionary
Orwell's novel has been fascinating readers ever since it was published. And the more so today, in a time when organisations like the NSA as well as Internet networks are competing with each other in gathering information about individuals, when demagogues and populists like the American president do not shy away from producing and propagating "alternative facts".
And here is an audio book that manages with a single voice to make the timeless classic come alive.

Komplett overhyped
Es war 90% langweilig...ganze Zeit nur Gelaber und es passiert einfach NIX ..einzige Teil der gut war war wo er sie kennen gelernt hat aber das läuft tauch nur total kurz dann is es wieder nuuuuuuur Gelaber ..absolute Enttäuschung und ist auch absolut nicht was alle sagen “voll zeitgemäß und uhuhuhuu gruselig” wir werden nicht vom Staat unterdrückt das Buch hat nix mit unserer Gesellschaft zu tun..hört auf das zu behaupten das hat mich nämlich dazu verleitet es zu lesen...manche mögen es bestimmt sehr..und zu seiner Zeit war es sicher auch absolut krass aber ganz ehrlich es is einfach nur komplett langweilig. Sorry

Ein Meisterwerk
Dieses Meisterwerk sollte jeder lesen. Obwohl es vor 70 Jahren geschrieben wurde, bleiben die meisten Konzepte interessant und aktuell. Ich kann es nur empfehlen.
