À propos de cette écoute
18-year-old Scott Keating knows a whole world exists beyond his parents' strict control. But until he gains access to the World Wide Web, he really has no idea what's out there. In a chat room Scott meets "JeffUK". Jeff loves and understands him, and when he offers to bring Scott to the UK, Scott seizes his chance to escape his humdrum life and see the world. But when his plane touches down and Jeff isn't there, panic sets in.
Collars and Cuffs' favorite barman and dom-in-training, Ben Winters, drops his sister off at the airport and finds a lost, anxious Scott. Hearing Scott's story sets off alarm bells, along with his protective instincts. Taking pity on the naïve boy, Ben offers him a place to crash and invites him to Collars and Cuffs, hoping his bosses will know how to help. Scott dreams of belonging to someone, heart and soul. Ben longs for a sub of his own. And neither man sees what's right under his nose.

I loved Scott but Ben was too much in his head, always worried about money but never searching for solutions or asking the right questions. I also was disappointed how, from the beginning, he asked Scott to accept gifts but refuse to do the same. It was frustratingly hypocrite.
This flaw in Ben character didn't make him a very good Master in my eyes but I couldn't take more than one star away. The characters are so realistically flawed and the writing is so good. Maybe I wouldn't have take one away if there was more smut in this book. It would have appeased me I think. 😇
SPOILERS AFTER THIS POINT (about the last 10% of the book)
Ben knew enough about Scott's parents to know he was never loved by them, they never really took care of him. They try to control his life by choosing for him his schooling and his future job. They even try to force him to be with a woman FFS. Ben knew all that and still let him go back with them "for his own good" because "he didn't have money to provide for him". 🙄 That's an excuse and a dumb one. How can he not see how his action was about to make his boy miserable ? How can he not realize that a good Master would have thought of everything else needed, not just money ? Didn't he know Scott didn't need money to be happy ? Money was important to Ben, not to Scott. He wasn't really thinking of his boy happiness and that's what made me think he wasn't a very good Master. I thought the same thing at the beginning of the book when he couldn't see he never praised Scott even knowing he wanted to be trained as a sub. I accepted the explanation that he was tired, doing his job and the one of the manager but it was a bit thin.
Maybe it's harsh and Ben isn't a bad character but his action at that point of the book made me loose faith in him. And yes, he did go to take Scott back but it was Leo whom told him to do so.
Frustratingly realistic with a very flawed main character
