Edge of the World Series

Fourteen-year-old Azariah Hancock must flee his home in Montgomery County, MD after avenging the rape of his sister by the son of the local sheriff. The Hancock family is hated by many in the county for being fair to their slaves, so Azariah and his family knew he would not receive a fair trial. He heads to St. Louis, where he meets mountain man Liam O'Reilly, who takes the youth under his wing, teaching him the trapping trade. Azariah finds friendship, love, and a new family, having adventures all along the way.

Azariah Hancock is eight years older and wiser, and much in love with his lovely wife, Sweet Grass, and their two young children. At Rendezvous, Azariah and his Arapaho and Cheyenne compatriots hear of women and children who have been kidnapped by a band of ruffians, both white and Indian, to be sold to the Mexicans. They rescue the women, but among them are three Blackfoot—sworn enemies to Azariah's adopted tribe. He Who Walks Tall is a man of honor, however, and he wants to bring the women back to their tribe, at the risk of his own neck.
