Blade is enjoying some time with his family when he gets an unwanted visitor. Star, the leader of the Flathead Indians, has come to ask for help. Small towns in western Montana are being attacked and the inhabitants have vanished without a trace. The only clue is a survivor that claims his family was abducted by bear-men mutants.

But the Red Menace made one mistake - they thought Blade and the Warriors would go like lambs to the slaughter. Instead, they fought with a savagery that would drive the invaders back to the land of perpetual nuclear winter.

The whole world now knows of the existence of the World Under, thanks to fallout from the terrible events in Omaha a year back. As the World Under's most effective foe, Kal Hakala performed actions that were both heroic and horrific. Now, sidelined as an Agent, he serves the Bureau of Supernatural Investigation as its public face, charming talk show hosts and training new recruits known as "Green Peas". However, the World Under never rests, and events force Kal back into action.

The inconceivable has happened. America has been ravaged by nuclear war. James Wolfe, a trucker driving on an isolated state highway in the Northwest, seeing the mushroom clouds in the distance, hid out in an abandoned mine. Now, months later, after living on the pretzels he was hauling and a trickle of water in the mine, Wolfe emerges to a world he hardly recognizes. He, too, has changed.

The last vestige of civilization is under attack by a horde of savage fighters determined to plunge the world into total darkness and ignorance.
