It's been four days since hundreds of thousands fell, sending the world into a frantic tailspin. With the other survivors at his side, Will is trying to get to Knoxville, where he has reason to believe his parents are, but the changed world and its new race of rabid creatures is doing everything it can to stop him. Meanwhile, David has found refuge in the same hospital as Jessica and Melissa, having barely made it out of the warehouse alive.

Inching ever closer to Gabriel’s home in Alexandria, VA, the group is forced to rest and recover with the doctor, Timothy, and his community of survivors. Holly has been shot, and Gabriel and Jessica are working through their trauma from being imprisoned at the school.

After narrowly avoiding tragedy, Will and the others hit the road and head east, looking to get Gabriel and Dylan home, while also hoping to seek refuge in the nation’s capital, Washington D.C. But the open roads present a challenge, as the group is low on gas, and has no place to call home. As stress levels rise among them, a divide begins to form. Will wants answers about what happened to him, while Gabriel only wants to get home as fast as possible.

The campground was supposed to be safe. Now, Will, Holly, and Charlie are left scrambling to save Dylan after he is bit by an Empty. After performing a field amputation, they’re forced to leave the campground and seek out medical attention for the boy, before it’s too late.

With no firearms, the group find themselves in a race against time to arm themselves and get to the farm where they believe Dylan is, before David and Clint bring their fully-loaded forces to the hospital.

Reunited again, Jon, Brooke, and Lucas head to the Los Muertos camp, 80 miles southeast of New Atlanta. Brooke is distraught, still processing her time as a prisoner in the camp, and the reappearance of her husband. With Peter now dead, Brooke must decide whether to face her son with the news. But other decisions loom, as she and Jon have to choose whether to stay with Los Muertos under the threat of another attack from New Atlanta, or head back out on the highways to face the dangers of the world and try to find peace somewhere.

Mourning the loss of his friends, Jon must pick himself up and help Brooke get her son back. A chance encounter gives them a hint of where Peter and Lucas might head, and they find a way to get back on the highway and go after him. But many obstacles remain in the way, including the undead hordes scouring the apocalyptic wastelands. And that’s not to mention Peter himself. Jon and Brooke have let Peter off before, knowing he’s Lucas’ father. But Jon knows what he must do for him and Brooke to find peace and end this cat-and-mouse chase.

Will Kessler works a dead-end warehouse job in Tennessee, driving a forklift and unloading shipping containers. When he wakes up from a nap during his lunch break, he finds most of his co-workers have mutated into monsters, and they have turned the 50,000 square foot building into a war zone, murdering any other survivors.
