Today Susie catches up with listener letters from our "Try This at Home" mailbag. She reads and answers two letters on matters both global and personal. One fellow writes about his slow start sexually. He was 23 before he had sex, and this has led him to think about Puritans, sexual pleasure, morals, and more. Susie has much to say on this topic. The next letter delves into porn and erotica, but with a special twist. Our correspondent is looking for athletic, strong women in porn that aren't "Barbie doll" types. Susie has some pretty hot suggestions....

Raise your hand if you're one of the lucky people who have had sex on a waterbed. It's so much fun and hard not to laugh while trying to get into position as the bed rocks and rolls with every move. Susie goes down memory lane and looks back at the heyday of these really cool, but so inconvenient, beds.

The state of Indiana has put a woman in prison for 20 years on charges that she killed her fetus, and reproductive-rights activists are outraged. Susie reviews the grisly details of how this happened. The woman is Asian American, single, and from a religious Hindu family that looks down on premarital sex - a perfect storm that led her to hide her pregnancy. But when the complications of a miscarriage caused her to seek medical help, she was quickly put in jail.

Today, Susie has an interview with Eric Schaefer, author of Sex Scene: Media and the Sexual Revolution. Professor Schaefer teaches at Emerson College in the Visual and Media Arts Department. His new book looks at exploitation and sexploitation within films, tabloids, novels, and audio recordings. Chapters include "Wet Dreams", "Porn Goes to College", "Beefcake to Hardcore", and "33 1/3 Sexual Revolutions Per Minute", to name a few. Susie and Eric discuss the origins of X ratings, Jane Fonda's movie orgasms, Swedish erotica, Russ Myer's nudies, and more.

Today, Susie spends the entire show speaking with legendary porn star Howie Gordon, aka Richard Pacheco. Over his career, Howie appeared in more than 100 X-rated films and videos. Susie and Howie talk about the business of making sex movies. How is your acting affected when getting an erection becomes difficult? They talk about open marriages, first loves, and the sexual liberation of the sixties.

Susie's as much a First Amendment supporter as the next sexpert, but a recent court case made her laugh. A former police officer was dismissed after his superiors learned of porn tapes which featured the officer in full uniform. The man says his free speech rights were violated but Susie's just not so sure he'll win. Randy police officers remind Susie of other uniformed sex. She reads a section of her "Story of O Birthday Party" and responds to a woman who's worried her sexual fantasies are too perverse.

Susie was recently a guest lecturer in a grad-school classroom where she was asked about the history of the feminist divide on pornography. This brought back old memories, including one in particular about how the famous radical writer Andrea Dworkin disagreed with Susie's view on pornography. Dworkin agreed with those who linked violence against women to porn. And back in the 1970s, she responded to an article Susie wrote about fisting. Dworkin wrote that if women were hurt because they tried Susie's violent idea of sex, then...Susie should be arrested!

In this week's Front Page, Susie turns her skeptical, sexpert eyes on the growing industry of creams and potion being billed as " Viagra for women." While her free samples are in the mail, Susie explains her skepticism of these stimulating creams and potions and talks instead about what actually makes sex more pleasurable for women. In her Media Whore section, Susie lists her favorite educational sex videos from the porn industry. And, it's week three of Susie's summer challenge.

Monica Lewinsky is back in the news. She's written a story for Vanity Fair in which she talks about her affair with President Clinton. Susie was glad to read that Lewinsky is candid about the affair being consensual. What is troubling to remember, though, is that back when this happened, Lewinsky was portrayed as a slut. Susie says there is so much more to this whole story, and she reads from an article she wrote for Ms. magazine that looks into Monica's background.

Susie is home for the holidays, but wants you to enjoy this show from 2010…. This week is Part One of a conversation with Yale psychology professor Paul Bloom about his new book How Pleasure Works: The New Science of Why We Like What We Like. Susie is intrigued to hear what Dr. Bloom has discovered about desire and what we can and can't control. Susie and Paul discuss pornography and why it is so arousing. They also talk about sperm wars and why American men have such large testicles.

Susie proclaims Viagra is the best thing to happen to birth control. Then, Susie interviews prostitute Matt Bernstein Sycamore. Matt is also the editor of Tricks and Treats and the upcoming Dangerous Families . Today Susie shares some interesting facts about Iran and how that country is dealing with infertility. She reads from "The Islamic Republic of Baby-Making", a foreignpolicy.com article. Sunni and Shiite alike use more than 70 clinics in Iran, which has a very high infertility rate - and these in vitro fertilization clinics (the most advanced in the world) are doing their best to change the numbers. Most interesting is how religion pops up around the practice of using a fertility clinic.

Even though playing with Barbie is old hat for Susie, in this week's Front Page, she delights a recent ruling making it okay, finally, for Barbie to pose nude. Susie ponders the question of what we are supposed to think when celebrities take to the press about their family abuse. Is it about money? Is it about immortality? Or is it just more of the screwed-up lives that Hollywood produces so effortlessly?

In a recent "Sunday Review" article in The New York Times, the headline read: "Does Porn Hurt Children?" Well, how could it not? Porn is unacceptable and must be stopped…. Hold on a minute, says Susie. First of all, Susie hates this type of headline, which is geared to rile us up. It's not a fair question, and Susie takes some time today to go over the details involved in this sensation-grabbing query. How old are the children? What specifically do you mean by "porn"? Hurt physically or mentally? Okay, let's have a serious discussion about kids and sex.

Have you heard about Transparent, Amazon's new original TV series? Susie says it's the most taboo-breaking sexuality-related TV show ever. The characters include a trans-gendering dad, a traditionally married daughter (who has just reconnected with her former girlfriend, a lesbian), a son who sleeps with a different woman every night, and the youngest daughter, who is into drugs and three-way sexcapades. Susie has been working with the cast and crew to create audio interviews that take us behind the scenes of season one, and she has a preview for you.

There's a Republican state legislator from South Dakota who wants to warn everyone about the dangers of anal sex. "Gay sex is not good for the mind or the body," he says. And he's looking for doctors to back him up. Ha! says Susie. Our lawmaker goes on to say that doctors are discouraged and intimated when it comes to telling the truth about anal sex. This makes Susie wonder if everyone has been intimated into silence when it comes to this issue.

Oh, oh! Thanks to Indiana's new "religious freedom" law, businesses can now tack up signs that say, "No Queers Served". Some see the law as a "sword" allowing discrimination against same-sex couples; others see it as a "shield" that gives people more freedom to follow their faith. But Susie says this is discrimination against the vulnerable. But what does peyote have to do with all of this? Susie reveals all.
