In 1890s Cardiff, reporter James MacFarlane is intrigued by rumours of ‘anaesthesia frolics’, at which gatherings the latest frontier in pain relief is demonstrated to influential guests. After he speaks to someone who attended several such ‘frolics’—and left with a hand and two fingers missing—James realises that the events have a dark side. Contriving an invitation, he is astounded to find another guest also investigating—it’s his old friend the Doctor! Reunited in mystery, the Doctor and James enter the murky underbelly of polite Cardiff society.

When Professor Irene Hyde's Monday morning lecture at St Luke's University is rudely interrupted by a man named the Doctor, it's the beginning of an adventure she could never have dreamt possible. Soon they are hurtling backwards in time to 1806, where the crew of the trading ship Favorite, led by the 'Ice King' himself, Frederic Tudor, are being picked off, one by one, by a hideous monster that lurks in the shadows.

The inhabitants of the planet Karfel are suffering under the tyrannical rule of their leader, the Borad, who has brought his world to the brink of interplanetary war. Those who dare to oppose the will of the Borad are mercilessly sacrificed to the Timelash, a fate considered by many to be worse than death. When the Doctor arrives on Karfel, he soon discovers the Borad's horrifying plan - and realises he must be stopped at all costs.

A mysterious plague strikes Space Beacon Nerva, killing its victims within minutes. When the Doctor lands, only four humans remain alive. One of these seems to be in league with the nearby planet of gold, Voga....

The huge, octopus-like Kroll lives deep in the swamps of the humid, steamy planet Delta Three. To the native swamp-warriors, Kroll is an angry mythical god. To the money-grabbing alien technicians, it is a threat to their profit-making scheme. When the Doctor and Romana arrive, in search of another segment of the Key to Time, they have to face the suspicion of the lagoon dwellers, the stupidity of the technicians and, finally, the power of Kroll itself.

A squad of UNIT troops is escorting a nuclear missile through the English countryside, whilst nearby knights in armour are fighting battles with broadswords, guns and grenades. The Doctor arrives on the scene and meets two old friends: Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and Bessie, the souped-up Edwardian roadster. Why do the knights address him as 'Merlin', and what is the power of the sword that Ace retrieves from the bottom of a lake? Will the wicked Morgaine carry out her threat to destroy the world.

When the TARDIS materialises inside a rocket, the Doctor and Jamie are alarmed by the presence of a hostile Servo-Robot. They discover that the rocket is drifting in the orbit of a giant space station - the Wheel in Space. Once inside the magnificent spaceship they are bewildered by its complexity and sheer size. The technicians and programmers are highly trained, but who are they working for?

On the planet Tigella, the Savants and the Deons are irrevocably opposed on one crucial issue: the Dodecahedron, mysterious source of all their power. To the Savants, it's a miracle of science to be studied and used to benefit all. To the Deons, it's a god, and not to be tampered with. When the power source begins to fluctuate, the whole planet is threatened. Zastor, Tigella's leader, welcomes the Doctor and invites him to arbitrate; yet the Time Lord may not be all he seems.

When Gareth finds his wife, Diane, in bed with another man, the couple attempt to save their marriage by uprooting from London to the West Wales village where Gareth grew up and buying the local pub. It's a bit of a dive - the wallpaper's peeling, there are squirrels in the saloon bar and something's growing out of the pool table. But it's got potential and they're determined to make a go of it. Soon, the locals are flocking to The Druid's Rest - and as Diane discovers, her husband's old friends are an eccentric bunch.

A bold plan to conquer space begins with the prefabricated components of a space station being transported up from Earth. Shaped like a giant wheel and code-named 'Orbiter X', the space station is designed to circle Earth, travelling in a rapid polar orbit - boasting synthetic gravity, produced by the rotation around the central hub.
 

Teddy Johnson stars in this atmospheric six-part radio thriller. Korean War veteran and hip Londoner Steve Gardiner arrives in a small Scottish seaside resort, looking for his old friend Jimmy Morton. But he's picked the wrong time for a reunion. The sleepy town is being terrorised by a homicidal maniac dubbed 'the Kind Man'. Stepping off the train after dark, Steve is almost lynched by a terrified crowd, and at the gloomy Morton house he finds Jimmy and his father behaving strangely. Then, waking in the night, he hears a voice whispering verses in his ear....

When the Doctor returns to Gallifrey, he learns that his bio data extract has been stolen from the Time Lords' master computer, known as the Matrix. The extract is a detailed description of the Doctor's molecular structure which, in the wrong hands, could be exploited with disastrous effect. The Gallifreyan High Council believe that anti-matter will be infiltrated into the universe as a result of the theft. To avoid this, they decide the Doctor must die. But an old enemy is waiting in the wings.

Norman is an idealistic, Beethoven-loving revolutionary. Max is a boring but cheerful timeshare salesman who won't stop talking. Fellow passengers on a flight to the Moon, they're thrown together to become reluctant companions after the lunar shuttle's toilet cubicle explodes, crash-landing them both on the desert sands of a distant alien planet. They are rescued by the friendly Oblivions, who could not be more delighted to see them.
