Charity hasn’t thought about her Amish life for a long time. However, when the senior midwife asks her to take on the role of midwife to the Amish community, Charity is forced to consider things she’d thought she’d forgotten. Meeting the Amish women, Charity slowly sees the differences between what she experienced and how life is here. Striking up something of a friendship with one of the women there, Beth, Charity slowly becomes used to her new role.

Samuel and Charity's relationship is beginning to blossom, just as Charity is solidifying her role in the community as the midwife. But with the peace of her newfound home comes questions about the future that Charity is not sure she can answer. Samuel's mother casts doubts on her ability to join the family. Similarly, Martha, Samuel's eldest daughter, struggles with the thought of Charity marrying her father, hating the idea of her deceased mother being replaced. Can Charity find strength in God and work together with Samuel to finally make her way to the altar?

Charity has finally made the decision to re-join the Amish community, finding her Amish clothes a comfort instead of a hindrance. Slowly coming to terms with her infertility, Charity decides to carry on with her midwifery, looking forward to meeting Beth's baby when the time comes. Charity finds herself drawn to a particular man in the Amish community. However, she can't stop worrying about what her infertility might mean for any relationship she may have. If she tells the truth, will it push him away from her? Will she be brave enough to trust him with her heart?
