“You are told to believe in one paradise / and then there is the paradise you come to know,” begins Rick Barot. What follows is an account of the rich and thorny valley between those poles. Moving the Bones dwells in liminal spaces—of love and memory, the pandemic’s singular domesticity, a serene cemetery of ancestral plots, dawn. In precise and tender verse, Barot captures the particularities of being in the middle of one’s life, reflecting on the joys and sorrows of the past and confronting the inevitabilities that lie ahead.

This poetic ensemble presents the struggles, hardships, addictions and pains from African American women who grew up in Harlem, New York City during the 1990's Crack epidemic. These women were exploited, raped, abandoned, forsaken and diagnosed with mental health issues that caused them to loose the stitches of their minds. Yet they survived, and thrived in the endless abyss of insanity by finding the power of their pens and the poetic voices of their struggles.

A first person epic poem of Odysseus' life and journey. This poem has all the twists and turns that one might expect from the teller of the tale...which is in this case Odysseus himself. The poem starts with Odysseus chiding his unnamed summoner, thus narrating his life, starting with his childhood and ending with his ultimate triumph at the death of the suitors. However, Odysseus has an agenda of his own and attempts to turn the tables on his foe.
