Cecily Stalks is an 18-year-old girl trying to cope with the stress of her father's suicide. She hates her job at the local tourist spot, the infamous Bramble Hall, she has a terrible relationship with her mother and she feels like her childhood friends are leaving her behind. She also has to deal with the vivid nightmares she has been having since her father's death: dreams about battlefields, war, a struggle between good and evil forces, and shadows. The shadows are most disturbing and they seem to be coming ever closer.
