"Dear friend Bruce,

Your letter received and was mighty glad to hear from you. I read in our papers here that the excitement that prevailed in Washington. My only reaction to the reports was, that there should be a law against the likes of Huddell carrying any books in his pocket. One of our men here said that 'he must have had a pocket book full of our money in his pocket.'"
