    May 20 2026

This week, Andrea and Marsha are joined by their friend—and Marsha’s sister—Michelle Proffit Ennis to discuss the General Conference talk, The Powerful, Virtuous Cycle of the Doctrine of Christ by Elder Dale G. Renlund.

As they reflect on the meaningful metaphors woven throughout the talk, Michelle shares how her experience as a kayak instructor has helped her better understand and apply these gospel principles in her own life.

Elder Renlund teaches, “Spiritual momentum is created over a lifetime as we repeatedly embrace the doctrine of Christ.”

Together, they explore how growing in our understanding of the gospel and of our Heavenly Father deepens our trust in Him and in the divine process unfolding in our lives.

  • S3E11 | Mothers Who Know | Julie B. Beck | Guest Amber Isom
    May 6 2026

This week, Andrea and Marsha are joined by their friend Amber Isom to discuss the General Conference talk Mothers Who Know by Julie B. Beck.

As we reflect on the impact this talk has had in our own lives, we recognize the daily opportunities we have to teach gospel principles—not only to our children, but also through the lessons our children teach us.

    Sister Beck reminds us:

“When mothers know who they are and who God is and have made covenants with Him, they will have great power and influence for good on their children.”

As we grow into the role of motherhood, we’re reminded to give ourselves grace. We recognize the eternal value of this role and the honor it is to be entrusted with it.

  • S3E10 | This Day | Henry B. Eyring
    Apr 22 2026

On this episode of Your Average Saint, Andrea and Marsha dive into the General Conference message “This Day” by Henry B. Eyring.

Elder Eyring teaches that the way we choose to serve the Lord today shapes the strength we’ll have for tomorrow. He reminds us:

“Hard as things seem today, they will be better in the next day if you choose to serve the Lord this day with your whole heart… He suffered your infirmities and your sorrows when He was in the flesh so that He would know how to succor you.”

This message encourages us not to fall into the mindset that we’ll always have another day to give our best. Repenting and serving today matters. Each day is a gift—and an opportunity to draw closer to the Savior and receive the help He is ready to give.

  • S3E8 | Spiritual Bonfires of Testimony | Joseph B. Wirthlin
    Mar 11 2026

On this episode, Andrea and Marsha discuss the October 1992 General Conference talk, “Spiritual Bonfires of Testimony,” by Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin.

Elder Wirthlin compares our testimonies to spiritual bonfires—fires that must be carefully built and consistently maintained. Just like a bonfire provides warmth and protection, a strong testimony can protect and sustain us throughout life.

    As he teaches:

“We are all vulnerable to attack. However, we can fortify ourselves with the protection provided by a burning testimony that, like a bonfire, has been built adequately and maintained carefully.”

Throughout history, we’ve seen the Lord make inspired changes to programs within the Church. While programs and procedures may change, our testimony of Jesus Christ is what anchors us. This episode explores the importance of strengthening and nurturing that testimony so it continues to burn brightly, no matter what changes come our way.

  • S3E6 | But If Not ... | Elder Dennis E. Simmons | Andrea and Marsha
    Feb 11 2026

On today’s episode, we discuss the General Conference talk “But If Not…” by Elder Denis E. Simmons. We explore how trials are often necessary for our personal growth and how they can strengthen our faith in the Lord.

Elder Simmons references the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9–10, where Paul teaches that Christ’s strength is made perfect in our weakness:

“Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me… for when I am weak, then am I strong.”

Elder Simmons reminds us, “Faith is believing that although we do not understand all things, He does. Faith is knowing that although our power is limited, His is not. Faith in Jesus Christ consists of complete reliance on Him.”

Throughout the episode, we share personal experiences of learning to rely on the Lord, trusting His timing, and exercising faith even when answers don’t come right away.
