Chapter 1 of Winnie the Pooh introduces the reader to Winnie-the-Pooh, a bear who lives in the Hundred Acre Wood with his friends Christopher Robin, Piglet, Eeyore, Owl, Rabbit, Kanga, and Roo. One day, Pooh is out walking when he hears a buzzing noise coming from an oak tree. He decides to climb the tree to get some honey, but he is too heavy and falls down the tree. Christopher Robin has an idea: he will use a balloon to float Pooh up to the top of the tree to retrieve the honey. The plan doesn't quite work, but Pooh leaves determined to somehow find more honey.
