    • Episode 4 - What's Your Legacy? Podcast - Dolores Maria Rossman AKA Lolita
      Apr 16 2025

Welcome to What’s Your Legacy, where we dive into legacies that change lives and the stories behind them. Today, I’m thrilled to sit down with Dolores Maria Rossman AKA Lolita. Dolores Maria Rossman is a prominent leader in Seattle, known for her work in health education and aging services, with a focus on creating age-friendly environments for diverse populations. With expertise in project management, intercultural communications, and health promotion, she has volunteered with organizations like Senior Services, NEST, and the Alzheimer's Association, advocating for the aging community. Her personal commitment to caregiving, shaped by her experience caring for her mother, a homecare worker, led her to develop homecare training for Latino immigrants. Rossman’s background also includes growing up in Missoula, MT, as the daughter of a Mexican immigrant mother, a story she shared in the "Festival of Personal Stories" on YouTube. Through her professional and personal efforts, Rossman continues to make a significant impact on the lives of older adults and caregivers in her community. I’m your host, Elsa Espino—a fine art photographer, aspiring producer, and creative force in theater and TV. From behind the camera to onstage, I’m here to bring you stories of impact and legacy. • Episode 3 - What's Your Legacy? Podcast - Michael Keen
      Mar 27 2025

Welcome to What’s Your Legacy, where we dive into legacies that change lives and the stories behind them.

Today, I’m thrilled to sit down with Michael Keen. Keen is a writer and hospice social worker based in Seattle. Born in Germany, he spent his early years in Japan and Panama before his family settled in Puyallup, Washington. His academic journey took him across the country, earning the following degrees: a BA from the University of California Berkeley, a MSW from Columbia University, a MFA from Syracuse University, and a PhD from the University of Louisiana.

He is the author of Notes from the Trauma Party, a deeply personal and critically regarded work published by a New York City press. His writing explores themes of resilience, identity, and the complexities of the human experience.

Beyond his literary and academic achievements, Keen considers his sobriety his greatest accomplishment. These days, he calls Seattle home, where he works as a hospice social worker, helping people navigate life’s toughest moments. He shares his space with his dog, Desmond, who is very sweet but, unfortunately, not very bright.

Join us as we uncover what drives him, the values he hopes to leave behind, and maybe a few surprises along the way!

    • Episode 2 - What's Your Legacy? Podcast - Jose "Neaners" Garcia
      Mar 5 2025

Welcome to What’s Your Legacy, where we dive into legacies that change lives and the stories behind them.

Today, I’m thrilled to sit down with Jose “Neaners” Garcia. Neaners is the Founder and Executive Director of Hope for Homies, a healing center in Everett dedicated to empowering youth and adults through cultural reconnection, emotional regulation, and mentorship. Raised as a migrant worker, he faced significant hardships, including language barriers, an abusive home, and early involvement in gang life, which led to a 45-year prison sentence at just 14. While incarcerated, he earned his GED and envisioned a future rooted in healing and transformation.

Since his release in 2014, he has dedicated his life to social work, launching programs like “Coffee for Homies” at Tierra Nueva and developing successful youth initiatives in schools. Now leading a LEAD (Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion) Model for adults, he also runs a for-profit business while mentoring future leaders. A devoted father and advocate, Neaners believes challenges are opportunities for growth, using his lived experience to guide others toward healing and self-discovery. His mission is to build a lasting legacy of hope and resilience in marginalized communities.

Join us as we uncover what drives him, the values he hopes to leave behind, and maybe a few surprises along the way!
