Sam Hovan sat down with women's basketball head coach Rebecca Tillett to talk about the 2021-22 Lancer women’s basketball team.   Throughout the podcast, the two talk about what the women’s basketball staff has seen after a couple of scrimmages through the fall. Plus, Tillett describes how she and her staff go through preparation for a scrimmage and how she plans to use a daunting non-conference schedule to once again prepare her squad for Big South play.   Tillett also explains who has stood out so far, what they’ve done well and where the team can continue to grow as the year goes along. With the team picked to finish third in the Big South preseason poll, the Lancer women have momentum to carry into the season.

FARMVILLE, Va. – With basketball season just around the corner as the calendar rolls to November, Sam Hovan, Voice of the Lancers, sat down with head coaches Griff Aldrich and Rebecca Tillett to talk all things Longwood basketball.

The trio discuss how each team's fall has gone so far as well as what practice looked like in the midst of an uncertain summer. In addition, Aldrich and Tillett describe how they stayed in contact with their teams during the COVID-19 pandemic. The two also talk about life off the court after things were locked down in the spring.

Both Aldrich and Tillett are entering their third seasons at the head of the men's and women's basketball programs, and both are coming off strong 2019-20 seasons. On the men's side, the Lancers finished a program-best fourth in the Big South, and the women's team hosted a home playoff game for the first time in team history after winning nine more games than the season prior, one of the top turnarounds in the NCAA.
