As a student, James Helm seemed to have it all: He played sports, got great grades, and even was Class President. But there was another side to his life he tried to keep hidden.

James had an addiction to prescription painkillers from the age of 17-25, and it almost ruined his life. During that time his addiction continued to get worse, but he believed he had it handled.

It took hitting rock bottom to realize he couldn’t recover alone.

James set aside his ego and finally asked for help. Then, his entire world opened up.

He found recovery in 2016 and has been sober since.
