  • Lauren Washer Makes Biscuits for Chris Pratt
    Jan 12 2026

Hide your quarters--Lauren Washer is on Unseriously.

It's a late-night Waffle House run with mom of 6, wife of Chris Pratt, author, women's ministry director, and all-around delightful person, Lauren Washer. She and Holly will talk about that durn door, the Washer family's incredible Waffle House ordering skills, and uninhibited fandom of others. Lauren will offer deep wisdom on loving others well in the church, at home, and how, "You can always make biscuits"--which Holly would like to go on record as stating should be the title of Lauren's next book. Amen.

You can find Lauren's latest from P&R Publishing, What to Say When She Thinks Her Husband Isn't a Good Spiritual Leader here, and also find Lauren on Instagram, where she is one of Holly's favorite follows.

  • Kelly Kapic Is Not a Lady
    Jan 5 2026

Our first weekly episode of Unseriously is such a treat--join Holly as she asks author and theology professor Dr. Kelly Kapic about keeping his students on their toes, hears how he (regularly) gets schooled by his brilliant wife, and expresses her gratitude for not making the subtitle of his new book, "Hey, Holly! This one's for you!"

This is also the episode where Collin Hansen is going to get name-dropped like three times.

Kelly's devotional version of You're Only Human is called You Were Never Meant to Do It All, and was a 5-star read for Holly in 2025, easily making Kelly Kapic one of Holly's favorite Kellys.

To the dismay of his many publishers, Kelly is not on the socials, but you can find him at his newly-agreed upon mandatory website, kellykapic.com.

  • Kate DiCamillo Is Going the Wrong Way
    Nov 3 2025

Holly's brother-in-law, Chase, has been called in on this one, folks. Princess Kate is in the building.

Our carnival queen, two-time Newbery medalist Kate DiCamillo, joins Holly for a pinch-me-I'm-dreaming interview covering everything from Epcot Center to shredded wheat to inciting kids to troll Chris Van Dusen. There may be a quote-off.

If you're friends with Holly in real life, she would like it noted that she arrived earlier than Kate to the interview, a fact which has now become one of the proudest moments of her life.

The name you'll be shouting at this interview is BEN STEIN. Don't miss Sophie Blackall's Farmhouse for anyone in your life, not just littles, Amanda Cleary Eastep's Instagram is @book_leaves, and this is a Katherine Applegate book. Here's the Beverly Cleary nonfiction picture book they discuss.

Read a Kate DiCamillo. Hug your people. Write back.

Kate's magnificent title Because of Winn-Dixie celebrates 25 years in print this year, plus she's got a new addition to The Norendy Tales called Lost Evangeline, with Sophie Blackall illustrating.

This is Holly's favorite Kate DiCamillo title, perfect to tuck into a stocking this year.

  • Collin Hansen Thinks the Internet Is a Fad
    Nov 3 2025

You know him as the top dog editor at The Gospel Coalition, the host of the beloved Gospelbound podcast, and the author of countless sources of faithful scholarship, commentary, and criticism...but have you ever seen him as Rudy's stunt double? It's time to get Unseriously with Collin Hansen.

Collin and Holly will discuss why Collin could not bring himself to move up the American Revolution, plus his next career taking over the @birminghamburgers Instagram. But don't worry, we cut out the ten minute riff of them impersonating every Birmingham radio personality they could remember since 2006.

If you're Rebecca McLaughlin, Skyler Flowers, Glenn Wishnew, Nadya Williams, Molly Worthen, or Sarah Irving-Stonebraker--you're going to want to listen to this episode. If you're Andrew Wilson...ah, maybe not so much.

Collin has a brand new (free) weekly newsletter subscription, Unseen Things--well worth your time--and his latest books, The Gospel After Christendom and Where Is God in a World with So Much Evil?, both available from TGC.
